“Money pile” scene from Breaking Bad is actually a masterpiece of practical set design rather than a massive budget flex. To create the giant mountain of cash without spending a fortune or having the pile collapse under the actors, the production’s art department constructed a massive, solid foam block as the base structure. The prop team then meticulously layered thousands of realistic prop $20$ and $100$ dollar bills wrapped in genuine bank straps for authenticity over and around the foam core. Actors Bill Burr and Lavell Crawford later revealed in interviews that lying on the foam-supported money stack was surprisingly comfortable, so much so that they actually struggled not to fall asleep on set between takes.

Rider Strong completely hated his iconic floppy haircut while filming Boy Meets World, but he was literally trapped by it. The actor who played Shawn Hunter desperately wanted to chop off his hair as he got older, but the network executives absolutely refused to let him do it. They realized that his signature 90s skater look was a massive hit with teenage girls, making him the ultimate heartthrob of the show. Strong was contractually obligated to keep his hair long and parted down the middle for years, even though it drove him crazy in real life. The moment the sitcom finally wrapped production, the very first thing he did was run to a barber and chop it all off. It is hilarious to think that one of the most defining hairstyles of the decade was forced onto an actor who could not wait to get rid of it.

🎬 Fun fact: In ‘The Last of Us,’ the entire show is set across the United States but was filmed almost entirely in Canada. Season 1 used over 180 filming locations across Alberta, making it the largest television production ever shot in the province. The only scenes filmed on actual American soil were a handful of shots on Interstate 435 in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas. Every other location, including post-apocalyptic Boston, Austin, Texas and Jackson, Wyoming, was recreated using various small towns and cities around Calgary — with the production designer joking that they essentially used “a sliver of downtown Calgary” to play four different American cities across the season. ‘The Last of Us’ (2023–present) is available to stream on Max.
