Today is the 88th birthday of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharajji. He was one of the leading artists, dance masters and developer of the Lucknow Gharana of Kathak dance. Bangladeshi Kathak legend Shibli Mohammad was a very dear student of Maharajji. He had brought him to Bangladesh for the first time in 2012. Our founder Annesha Biswas, having been a student of Shibli Mohammad, had the once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in Maharajji's Kathak workshop.

✨ We put on a show for a delightful 2 year old and we absolutely adored the experience of it. How fortunate to have such wonderful parents who are assuredly sponsoring not just his conscious cultured upbringing but also creating a space for classical arts and artists to experiment.

Thank you Sadaf Saaz Siddiqi apa for arranging such a lovely evening splendor and giving us the opportunity to bring Kathak to more audiences. You're the biggest supporter of RANI Dance Collective!

RANI Dance Collective is working to bring Kathak to new audiences and making learning classical dance a more inclusive space for those who are choosing to tap into their childhood passion. Classical dance is known to be very rigorous and difficult in nature not just for how the dance is, but also because it takes immense rigour and dedication to learn.

Here, we are conducting process driven Kathak classes that focus on teaching the adult beginner students on the basic how-to's rather than cultivating dance movements for a final goal.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds of careers, with no prior experience in Kathak and are now in pursuit of this difficult yet rewarding journey of learning it.

বছরের শেষ ক্লাসে একটু উদ্যমী কিছু না করলে কি সাঁজে? তাই আজ আমাদের বিগত কত্থক নাচের প্রোডাকসন "আরো দাও প্রাণ" অনুষ্ঠানের অংশগ্রহণকারীদের সার্টিফিকেট বিতরনী উপলক্ষে এই ছোট আয়োজন।

২০২৫ অনেক আড়ম্বরের সাথেই আমরা পার করেছি। অনেক চড়াই উৎরাই পার হয়ে এখনও যে টিকে আছি, তার পেছনে বড় প্রেরণা আমাদের ছাত্রীরা। এই আয়োজনটির অনেক কিছুই আমাদের ছাত্রীরা নিজে নিজেই তৈরি করেছেন। সবার জন্যে রানী ডান্স কালেকটিভ এর পক্ষ থেকে শুভ কামনা। তবে এই শেষ নয়! দেখা হবে নতুন বছর ২০২৬ এ ✨
