I remember when my uncle came home from Korea and had to jump through hoops just to get what was promised to him. He'd already given so much, and then had to spend months filling out forms and waiting in lines at the VA. It never sat right with me that the folks who served our country had to battle red tape after they'd already battled for our freedom. Oh my goodness, this takes me back! We really did think we were something special with our hairdos teased to the heavens, our best dresses, and just the right shade of lipstick. My daughter laughs when she sees my old photos, but let me tell you—we knew how to put ourselves together back then. It took effort, but we had fun doing it!
