Emma Watson (born April 15, 1990) is a British actress, model, and activist who gained international Fame for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series. Born in Paris, France, and raised in Oxfordshire, England, she attended the Dragon School and later trained in acting at the Stagecoach Theatre Arts. Watson made her professional acting debut in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), which became a major critical and commercial success, leading her to reprise the role in all eight Harry Potter films until 2011. Following the series Watson transitioned into more mature roles, appearing in films such as the Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), The Bling Ring (2013), and Beauty and the Beast (2017), the letter of which was the major box office hit. In addition to her acting career, Watson is known for her work in advancing women's right and gender equality. In 2014, she was appointed a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and helped launch the HeForShe campaign, advocating for mens involvement in gender equality. She studied at Brown University, graduating with a degree in English literature in 2014.
