COP29 | RECAP 🌱

At COP this year, I got the opportunity to visit and learn from a number of different pavilions. At the Malaysia Pavilion, I attended a riveting seminar on integrating indigenous knowledge into climate activism. It was inspiring to see how these methods can be used to build our own climate resilience.

Visiting various pavilions also demonstrated the potential of cultural exchange and how culture and the creative arts can serve as powerful tools for climate action! 💚

COP29 | RECAP 🌱

As a part of my FIRST DAY at COP29, I sat on an amazing panel at the CARICOM Pavilion where we discussed the importance of ground-up climate action/movements in the Caribbean in prioritising climate justice issues. 🌍

I was also honoured to read my poem “The Women with Fish,” as part of the international release of the preview of Today Today, Congotay! A preview of Writing for Our Lives, a Caribbean climate justice anthology. The anthology sheds light on the implications of climate change on health, livelihoods, and culture, particularly for marginalized groups. Grateful to contribute to this important conversation and inspire change. 🌿💚

🌍✨ Big news! I'm happy to share that I'll be participating in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Baku, Azerbaijan this year! I will represent the concerns of the OECS Member States, bringing my technical skills and enthusiasm for climate justice to the table.

I am also honoured to be featured in the international release of the preview of the forthcoming Caribbean Climate Justice anthology, "Writing for Our Lives," on November 18 at the CARICOM Pavilion! The anthology illuminates the implications of climate change on health, livelihoods, culture, and heritage, particularly for those who are often unseen and unheard in decision-making processes.

I am looking forward to connecting, sharing and bringing back thoughts that can help influence the future of our region!
