Tango Tour to Istanbul — Tangoversity 🇹🇷
From 19 to 22 November, Istanbul will host Tangoversity — a tango event with a slightly different concept from the usual closed-format festivals and marathons.
The package includes:
• 4 tango classes with Turkish teachers Dilara Öğretmen, Utku Küley, Alper Ergökmen & Ilgın Tetikcan
• 4 milongas
• Guided practicas
• Accommodation with breakfast included in a hotel next to classes venue - Grand Sagcanlar Hotel
💶 €450 per person — shared double room
💶 €570 per person — single room
But what makes milongas of the event particularly interesting to me is that these are not milongas organised exclusively for the event. Instead, we will be joining four different regular Istanbul milongas, in different locations around the city.
And I can honestly say that this is something worth experiencing. When I was in Turkey before, in a big festival, I repeatedly heard from dancers that if you really want to feel the Turkish tango scene, you should go to their regular milongas. I had the chance to experience this myself with small team from Baku in Izmir in 2024, - and I can absolutely confirm that Turkish milongas are worth the trip😊
So this time, we have a chance to discover four of Istanbul’s regular milongas as part of the event, - not just dance in a closed festival bubble, but actually experience the local tango scene.
