Fashion designer and artist David Paulus designs clothing that belongs to the first group. He lives in Doetinchem but comes from Curaçao. The island is a great source of inspiration for him. "Everyone should be able to feel comfortable in my clothes. I don't actually design for one specific person."

This dress is a tribute to culture, tradition, ritual, and history. Dressed in blouws, indigo blue, which has protected against ojada, the evil eye, for generations. A tribute to my ancestors and for Heera Dijk also personal: a remembrance of her mother. It falls in a historic year, the year the Curaçao national team made history at the World Cup. Ancestors, thank you for the strength and creativity. Curaçao, root and recognition.

Curaçao makes history. During Prinsjesdag 2026, .d makes her debut in a design by .
The dress is blue — not by chance. In Curaçaoan culture, blouws, indigo blue, protects against ojada, the evil eye. It’s a ritual passed down through generations: worn on the body, or placed on a baby’s head for protection. This design carries that tradition on the body.

Djumbala, Djumbala!... it sounds like music. Two corals rise above the sea, hung with things people and animals lost in the water: a shell, a bow, a grater. The performers tap, drum, and blow on whatever they find — and it sounds best when they play together, like one instrument.

At Djumbala!, the audience doesn’t just watch. Kids and families move, sing, and clap along, sharing the stage with the musicians.

Djumbala! introduces young and old to Afro-Curaçaoan music traditions, inspired by Muzik di Zumbi and Tambú — traditions rooted in Africa that took their own unique shape on Curaçao.
