So, the Blue Door Emporium is suffering its fair share of roadblocks. Such is life. But, we should have some exciting news in the next couple of weeks for an event we are planning to host in a couple of months' time. At the moment we are held up developing our cafe due to financing (I am sure many of you understand); this does not stop us from looking at ways of opening up the space here for people to use.

So please keep an eye out for further details on our FB page.

Meanwhile...... lets be good to each other and welcome the stranger x

What’s available:• Space for groups of up to 10 people• Tea and coffee• Quiet nooks for reading• Plenty of books to enjoy• A play area for kids
We’d love to see the space used and enjoyed by the community. Message us if you’re interested 🙂

Hi All,

Progress on the Emporium is at a snails pace ATM :-/

We are considering opening the church up to small community groups for small meetings (up to 10). We will supply tea and coffee making facilities. This will be free of charge but you can make a donation for the tea and coffee if you feel like you want to. We want to see the Church opened for some sort of public use.

Pls get back to me if you think this is a good idea :-)

Kind Regards,
Darren

Hi all. It is all getting very exciting for Tan and me. Not only do we hope to provide the best coffee on the peninsula, but we will also have a beautiful selection of rocks and minerals. You can simply admire their beauty, or you can purchase the samples :-) What we have pictures of is a citrine druize (The yellow pic), it is yellow and glassy because it is an iron silica (Iron colours things yellow to red and silica is sand expose to high temperature becoming glassy and green fluorite. We know it is fluorite because of the crystal shape. Fluorites can be almost any colour. Colour is not considered a good way to identify rocks and minerals because the colour can be a result of imperfections in the sample. For instance, fluorite will always have the 8-sided shaped crystal but can be just about any colour. Green can come from imperfections in the sample such as copper :-)

Rock God :-)

Fairly important!!!! The coffee machine at a cafe :-) Nick from Altura Coffee came and installed our coffee machine. It is glorious coffee and I would like to make the best coffee on the peninsula one day. Thanks Nick x.

Tan and I look fwd to inviting you all to a trial run of our cafe in early April/late March. It will be a reduced menu just a trial run.

Thank you for your patience.

Oh, by the way, you don't have to buy a coffee we have a community library here and you can borrow the books for free, we also have board games for you play if this takes your fancy.

Kind regards,
Darren

Hi All very exciting things occurring over the next couple of weeks. Our electricity is being upgraded and we are getting solar panelling from Yorke Solar (Excellent people). We are really looking forward to providing a common area for the people of Yorketown and the surrounds to enter and enjoy. We will have coffee and food (oh and freshly squeezed juice) but you will be welcome to come in and just relax :-). Hopefully 6 months away from opening.
