By Tony McMahon.

Yeppoon’s Keppel Park racecourse is certainly starting to “look the part” for its monstrous Derby Day race meeting on Saturday , October 31.
Believe you me, “monstrous “ is certainly the correct word to describe the occasion.

The theme will be “black and white” which fits in with the traditional concept of clothing on display at the coinciding Victoria Derby Day races at Flemington that day.

Naturally, the ladies and gents at Keppel Park in the main will not adhere to conventional wear but believe you me many would be at home among the roses at the famous Melbourne course.
I have been fortunate over the years to attend numerous Derby Day races at Keppel Park, Yeppoon and enjoyed every minute of the occasions.

It will be even better this year as I won’t have the duties of official race caller as I have swapped that profession for “people watching”. Far more enjoyable I might add than focusing attention on fillies and mares but I expect the use of my binoculars on the magnificently attired two legged females may cause some ire.
Only joking of course or am I?

Last week on a reconnaissance mission chauffeured by my wife Jean, I took some snaps of Keppel Park racecourse from a different perspective.

I alighted on an embankment off Neills Road which runs adjacent to the back straight and took pics overlooking the racecourse.
Hope you like them.

More will follow in the days and weeks ahead.
Personally, I would have much preferred to have being photographing fashions.

Don’t forget the date- Saturday, October 31.
Take my tip - get there!
