This one is especially close to my heart. 💙

In a few weeks, my painting George will be auctioned at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in support of the Phoebe Dawson Foundation.

Having come to know the story behind the Foundation, I am incredibly honoured to be able to play a small part in supporting its work.

Many in the RCS community know James Barnet — a valued colleague, advisor and friend who has been part of the RCS family for many years.

What many may not know is the story behind the Phoebe Dawson Foundation.

Phoebe was James' daughter — a dedicated nurse whose life was tragically cut short in a car accident on 19 February 2024.

In the face of unimaginable loss, Phoebe's family chose to honour her memory by creating something that continues to make a difference in the lives of others.

Today, the Phoebe Dawson Foundation supports children's charities, ensuring Phoebe's kindness, compassion and legacy continue to touch the lives of children and families who need it most.

This beautiful photo is a reminder that behind every foundation is a daughter, a family and a story of love that endures long after loss.

Some pieces are harder to part with than others.

I am donating my original painting, George, to the upcoming 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐞𝐛𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚 auction at the Art Gallery of NSW.

George is the most special piece I have ever painted — and one I never imagined letting go of.

He was the piece that gave my art journey an incredible beginning, opening doors I could never have imagined — from exhibiting in London, under the patronage of King Charles III, to opportunities far beyond anything I dreamed possible.

And now, it feels incredibly meaningful that George will have a beautiful new chapter of his story — in a setting as special as the Art Gallery of NSW, helping support something far greater than art itself.

I’ve known Phoebe’s parents, James and Tina Barnet, for some time through work, and watching the way this foundation has been created — with such love, generosity and purpose — is incredibly moving.

The Phoebe Dawson Foundation continues Phoebe’s spirit of care, connection and compassion, supporting charities that help families and communities through difficult moments and bringing people together to make a genuine difference.

It feels deeply meaningful for George to become part of that story.

Later this year, John and I will attend the 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐞𝐛𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚 at the 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬.

A night that feels incredibly close to my heart… because one of my most meaningful pieces will be auctioned for charity.

“George” — the painting that started everything for me.

The one I never imagined parting with. The one that travelled all the way to London… and back again.

Letting him go feels bittersweet — but also like the most beautiful way to honour his journey.

From my studio… to a new home, and hopefully raising something meaningful along the way.

Sometimes, the pieces we hold closest are the ones that go on to do the most good.
