I chose this fresh little number with its crisp Spring vibes since Winter seems to have fled Queensland…if it ever really put in an appearance! Lyn Jackson is the maker and the pattern is called ‘Tip Toe’ by Emma Jean Jansen. It is a glorious quilt of baby checks and bold botanicals with a great balance of warm and cool tones that make it sparkle. I smile every time I look at it. ☺️

Quilting-wise: my choice was a little paisley - playful and designed to amp up the texture. Enjoy. 🌿🌺🌼🌸🌿

Well…this week began with the launch of my third pattern - ‘Second Chance Circles’ - and the response has been lovely. I appreciate the support so much.

About this pattern: it is multi-sized (lap, single bed, and queen bed options) and includes step-by-step instructions for simple curved piecing, making it suitable for the confident beginner. The lap and single bed version can be made using layer cake pre-cuts.

The pattern is available in both printed and downloadable PDF formats and there is an optional acrylic ruler set to make cutting even easier. Visit my website if this pattern sounds right for you. (www.cooeequilting.com)

Happy weekend all.

Three different sized quilts, three different styles of fabric, three different approaches to the design.

The House of Cooee Quilting seems to get busier with each passing month so it’s good to stop and acknowledge the achievements. The biggest personal one was that I completed the single bed version of ‘Second Chance Circles’ using my precious Kaffe Fassett stash. Super happy with how it turned out! Pattern launch happening next week. 🤗

Then of course this Kangaroo Quilter immediately bounced onto the next project - a baby quilt for the little lads. I knitted myself some new slippers, got our logo printed onto mugs, and quilted some truly awesome client quilts.

And now? I am off to enjoy a break. Happy weekend to you all. 💖

There has been no shortage of gorgeous quilts in my life of late. This week’s Quilt Queen is Joyce Dooley and I am completely besotted with ‘The Judy Quilt’ that she has made using Tilda’s ‘Chic Escape’ and ‘Daisyfield’ fabric ranges. This one is all about showcasing the fabrics but its subtle interlocking frames are perfect for bringing everything together.

I chose a baroque-style quilting pattern - a multitude of flowing leaves, curls and florals - but with a neutral thread for a ‘barely there’ finish. 💖

Today’s Quilt Queen is Lily Oliffe and she truly is the Queen of Queens…about to turn 95 and still producing beautiful quilts. Pictured is her version of ‘Flowerville’ - by Rosalie Dekker Designs - that garnered second place at the Yeppoon Show. She has produced 9 intricate stitcheries surrounded by beautiful Dresden Plates. I love her use of variegated threads in the stitcheries and the whole quilt is one of whimsical wonder.

I tried to keep that whimsy going with my quilting - pretty flowers with lots of curl and sunburst spokes to make the whole plate pop! Her daughter Leigh is now the proud owner. Lucky girl! 💝

Quilt Queen for the week goes to Marlene Delzoppo for this fabric riot. I adore everything about this quilt - its design, the colours, the sentiments expressed, the sheer joy of it! The pattern is called ‘Dear Daughter’ by designer Sherri Noel of Rebecca Mae Designs. And you are going to have to suspend your disbelief when I tell you that this is Marlene’s first quilt. 😳

Her first words to me were ‘Don’t look too closely’…what??…I am absolutely going to disobey you Marlene because this is a visual feast to be savoured one block at a time. Enjoy the meal Everyone. ☺️

P.S. We will have a video tour on Monday.
