Junior powered up the light on her tank.

Here are some photos of the glass shrimp and a sneaky boofhead gudgeon we caught yesterday.

They love the elodea jungle. This is very much a no touch tank. It'll be interesting to see what a difference the shrimp will make.

FORE and and a few more glass shrimp were collected from this creek yesterday.

The creek backs onto a golf driving range, and we were serenaded by the THWACK of iron on balls as we picked the shrimp from our nets.

Big thanks to my little fishing buddy, Junior, who kept me entertained and picked most of the shrimp out of the net.

Two weeks ago we would have been a metre under water following the big down pour.

We even netted a couple of boofhead gudgeons amongst the leaf litter.

Unfortunately no photos of the shrimp yet as the light on Junior's tank is on the fritz.

Happy creeking you groovy collectors!

What a difference 150mm of rain makes. This section of Limestone Creek in Central Queensland was overgrown with duckweed and other plants.

Check out the debris on the palm tree, up to 2m off the ground.

The water looks deceptively calm but it is flowing strongly through the storm pipes. It's a good reminder to not trust flood waters even weeks after the rains.

Happy creeking everyone!

Australian natives love Val. Plant your tanks with plenty of Val and watch your gudgeons and rainbows come alive.

Rainy days are perfect for tank watching.

How good is a tank full of Aussie natives?

Rainbows and empire gudgeons bring plenty of personality. Meanwhile the purple spot gudgeon floats about just reminding the tank mates whose the boss! I think I'll name him Tony Danza.

I've been keen to get out into the creeks to do some shrimpin' but the weather each weekend has kept me indoors. Creekin ain't easy!

Have a great weekend everyone...

Waiting for a roast on the bbq, I took the opportunity to look at the frog hotel and pond at night.

Today I had repotted the vallisneria and trimmed the amazon sword back. In doing so, I rediscovered a school of rainbows that had been hiding in the hair.

Instead of another fishing expedition, the afternoon was spent watching the M Splendida Splendida Limestone Creek dart through the plants. One of the rainbows turned sideways displaying the yellow flecks in it's fins.

Creekin' ain't easy, but chillin' by the pond is.

Junior gave her home-made dip net it's maiden run and came home with some shrimp for her tiny tank.

Water was too cold for the splendida, fly-specked hardyheads and boofhead gudgeons.

We did manage to land a medium-sized mouth almighty in a weekbank. Junior was happy to throw it back, as it would eat everything in the tiny tank.

I would've brought the fish home at Junior's age...

Looks like the tiny tank will remain a shrimp and boofhead gudgeon tank.

It's amazing how the tank plants bounce back without a yabby clearing house.

The plants and driftwood have given the smaller gudgeons confidence to come out and display.

The larger rainbows and gudgeons love the plants for creating territories and places to spar.

Native shrimp also find homes among the driftwood and floating plants and pop out to feed on the leftovers after feeding.

How good is it sit to back and enjoy the fish we get creekin' in a planted tank?

Happy creekin' everyone...
