Disappointment and difficulties can strike at any time in life. Having money is no protection, although it can certainly help to minimise the potential of certain issues.

You can have everything going for you and then WHAM! - life crumbles. People die, things or relationships break or burn, health tanks, employment goes down the toilet or the government does something stupid that puts all the pressure on.

We just don’t know what is coming around the bend at us.

We can do our best to prepare for all the eventualities, but it’s still no guarantee we will sail through unscathed.

The one thing we CAN do is build our resilience.

Work on our internal capacity to keep walking through the storms.

Learn to stop taking everything personally so we don’t completely lose it when things get hard.

Thinking the world is out to get you when s**t gets real just makes it all that much harder to take.

I’ve become somewhat of an expert on getting up and on with it over the years - so if you are looking for a mentor in this area, hit me up.

I’ve spent my life trying to create moments of joy for people.

It’s why I loved being a face painting fairy and telling puppet stories.

It’s why I’ve explored all the woowoo.

It’s why I work one on one with people to help them shift what’s weighing them down, so they have more access to joy.

And it’s also why I continue to paint with words and with inks, because sometimes a painting or a phrase can lift a heavy heart or bring a smile to a sad face.

The last few years have been gruelling for us in many ways, and yet we can still find the laughter and the magic in moments - like today when two rainbows followed us home.

So I paint and create for myself and for those who need it, even when the profit is often purely intangible.

‘I find my joy in the colours of the rainbow,
The twinkle of the sun on the dew,
And the white fluffiness of clouds.’

This painting is A3 and available for purchase, message me for details.

With so many tools in my emotional/spiritual healing toolkit, sometimes I forget about the ones I haven’t used for a while.

I’ve had persistent right neck/shoulder pain for the last 3 weeks or so, despite seeing the chiro, massages from the husband and using a ball for some myofascial release exercises.

And then, a couple of days ago I remembered one of my essential oil books, that links emotions with certain body or energy points.

I used my intuition and some muscle testing to hone in on the emotion, applied the specified oil as recommended, repeated the affirmation until I felt a shift and went about my day.

Most of the pain is now gone from that spot, and I’m noticing pain where there wasn’t any before - so I’ll follow the breadcrumbs until everything has settled.

It’s so easy for us to logic our pain - it’s because I slept funny, or pulled something when working out, or I need a new pillow. And yet, when something won’t shift no matter what physical and topical remedies we apply, it’s time to look deeper.

It’s not just physical pain that this relates to - it’s behavioural patterns and belief systems that keep backfiring on us too.

And yes, sometimes a few drops of oil and a couple of minutes of repeating an affirmation to ourselves CAN shift things. Not everything has to be drawn out, intense and deep excavations of past pain.

If you need to shift something in your life and don’t have hours and hundreds of dollars to throw at the issue, I have just the thing for you. I’ll send through the link with your card meanings.

I have Pluto fu***ng retrograde in Libra in my second house, right next to my Part of Fortune.

Now I’m no astrologer, but from what I’ve been able to glean from readings I’ve had done and other sources, it means that the whole ‘death and rebirth, feast and famine cycle’ is a thing for me (not to mention some of the other freakily accurate s**t in there too).

In other words, every time my whole identity and income collapses and I need to reinvent myself, THAT’S when I make bank, from my ‘authenticity’ and ‘embodied wisdom’ and ‘sovereignty’.

I’m still waiting for the Universe to show me the money, but I suppose I have to take some action too. 😆

All that aside, I’ve been told over and over again that ‘something I said’ during a conversation was what made all the difference for the person in the middle of their own personal s**tstorm.

So I have a very simple offer for you.

An hour of my time, my ears and my wisdom, to discuss what’s happening for you.

And for the first three people - your own custom subliminal recording to address what’s going on on a subconscious level. All for less than a greenback (for a limited time only).

A bargain at twice the price.

I’ll pop a booking link in the comments.

We don’t always have the money, time or resources for luxury experiences, but we can always find a way to create magical moments anyway.

Today I took my youngest for an afternoon snack and debrief, then to the library, and we spent a nice little while finding books and DVDs.

I drove home with a smile on my face, thinking about one of the DVDs we borrowed, which I used to watch with my bestie when we were younger and on school holidays.

Once home, I turned on the heater, my fancy, musical oil diffuser and a lamp, lit a candle and snuggled down to read a book.

Earlier today I had dippy eggs with some bread I baked yesterday, and a nice little pot of hot cassoulet I made a couple of days ago. I’ve had cups of tea, and snuggled under blankets and wore the fluffy socks I received for Mother’s Day.

My belly, my heart and my head are all happy (despite the s**t show of the world around us), and it cost less than $20, and I was alone for most of it.

Happiness doesn’t come from others, it comes from within - from the moments we choose to enjoy, to make a little bit special or to just be present.

So even if life is hard right now, do something that will make you smile, and shelve the rest of it for an hour or two. Your heart (and nervous system) will thank you for it. Tell me what makes you smile below.

I’ve always been a reader.

As a kid, I’d spend all my spare time devouring books (except for when I was drawing or painting) and losing myself in fantasy worlds.

Even in high school when my social battery was low, I’d take myself off and hide in a corner and read all lunch time.

Libraries and book stores were every bit as exciting as going down to the video store on a Friday night.

But over the last few years, I’ve barely read a physical book. Instead, I would download audiobooks and podcasts and play games and scroll on my phone while listening.

I couldn’t put the damn phone down.

But something has shifted recently and I’ve been reading some of my old favourites again - sitting in the sunshine with a cup of tea and a book in my lap. It’s been SO GOOD to leave the doom scrolling and dopamine hits alone.

I often talk to people who tell me they don’t know who they are or what they love anymore, and I’m not surprised with all this constant bombardment from news and social media. It’s so easy to get sucked in, and for it to become your identity.

So if you are feeling that way, try with something that you USED to love. See if it still brings you some joy, and allow that to work its magic on your life and put some distance between you and the screen.

Us humans are meaning-making machines.

Unless you’ve spent many years building your capacity for self reflection, or become so hardened by life that you just don’t care, you are probably taking everything just a little bit personally.

The tricky part about it, is half the time it’s not even obvious what we are making it mean.

Say we lose a loved one and we are in the throes of grief. That’s to be expected.

But what if under the sadness is a whole host of subconscious thoughts that have been triggered by their passing?

‘I’m all alone.’
‘Nobody cares about me now.’
‘If they loved me more they would have fought harder.’
‘I didn’t do/say enough to help them.’
‘It’s all my fault.’

We ASSUME the low moods and all the tears are because of the grief, and wonder why it’s so hard.

But on top of the grief is this maelstrom of other emotions, recurring patterns and thoughts and old beliefs from past experiences that are throwing punch after punch at us even after we are down.

Instead of battling one big thing, you are now battling many that you didn’t even know where connected.

So what do we do about it?

First we need to sort out the tangles - and identify all the thoughts and feelings that are being triggered. Then we have something to work with.

Try doing this with any situation in your life that is causing you issues - write down the ‘I am’ thought that it is triggering, and any emotions it’s bringing up.

Then see what you notice.

Today, choose your cards and comment below. I’ll message you the reveal.
