Ukrainian musicians Larissa Kovalchuk and Anna Dove are performing at Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall this Sunday, bringing together:
🎶 Larissa's extraordinary soprano voice
🎶 the distinctive sound of the Ukrainian bandura
🎹 Anna Dove at our Steinway concert grand
🇺🇦 Ukrainian classical and traditional music
🎼 plus Rossini, Gershwin and Bach/Gounod

It's a program that moves between cultures, styles and centuries, and a rare opportunity to experience Ukraine's national instrument right here in Yass.

From Kyiv to Yass this Sunday. 🇺🇦🎶

We're delighted to welcome two exceptional Ukrainian musicians to Yass Music Club this weekend.

Larissa Kovalchuk studied voice, bandura and conducting at the Kyiv Conservatorium before establishing an international performing career. Since moving to Australia she has performed widely, including at the Sydney Opera House, and worked with SBS and ABC.

Anna Dove trained as a pianist in Kyiv, graduating from the National Music Academy of Ukraine and building a career as both a performer and educator before coming to Australia.

Together they bring us a program combining the music and traditions of Ukraine with works by Rossini, Gershwin and Bach/Gounod.

When the pair performed in Canberra last year, Canberra CityNews praised Larissa's voice for its “great clarity and power” and described Anna's piano playing as excellent.
Now it's Yass's turn.

Coming up fast!

Wow! What an amazing concert we were treated to on Saturday! "Estampa" were so much fun, so enlivening, so moving. Rebecca Karlen's musicality shone out in her beautiful singing and her versatility in moving between violin and viola. The group carried us across the world with echoes of gypsy music, Swedish folksongs, and smokey bars in Montmartre. Paul Henderson on banjo and guitar and Samuel Vincent on double bass gave Rebecca a lively backing, and John Reeves mesmerized us with his button accordion. A great Sunday afternoon!

On Sunday afternoon, August 16 at 2.00pm, Larissa Kovalchuk, soprano and bandura, will be performing a collection of Ukrainian folk music as well as more classical compositions by Rossini, Gershwin and Bach. She will be accompanied by Anna Dove on our beautiful Steinway piano. Don't miss this enchanting duo.

Estampa is a World/Folk/ Jazz quartet based in Brisbane, Australia. Evoking visions of Parisian laneways, South American sensuality, and the unbridled joy of European folk-music, Estampa delivers an energetic, internationally-inspired performance.

Combining a unique blend of violin, voice, piano accordion, guitar and double bass, this group of fiery musicians is sure to appeal to a diverse and eager-to-dance audience.

Expect an eclectic experience that will leave you feeling like you've entered a 1930's Parisian jazz club or the streets of São Paulo.

The group features Rebecca Karlen on violin and vOcals, Paul Henderson on guitar, John Reeves on piano accordion and Samuel Vincent on double bass.

These well-established musicians come from diverse musical backgrounds and together perform an eclectic mix of music, including French jazz and chansons, Brazilian instrumental music, Bossa Nova, Scandinavian and other World Folk music.
