Giving a wedding speech? 🎤💍
Before you grab the mic, here are 7 tips that will help you absolutely nail it:
1. WRITE SOMETHING DOWN ✍️
Don’t just wing it. Even if you think you’re naturally funny… write it down.
2. PROOFREAD + PRACTISE 👀
Read it out loud. Then read it to someone else. You’ll catch the bits that don’t work.
3. TELL A PERSONAL STORY ❤️
The best speeches aren’t generic. Share a story that actually means something.
4. ACKNOWLEDGE BOTH OF THEM 🥂
It’s a wedding speech, not a tribute to your best mate. Make sure you celebrate BOTH the bride and groom.
5. KEEP IT SHORT ⏰
Nobody wants a 25-minute TED Talk between courses.
6. DON’T EMBARRASS THEM 😬
There’s a difference between funny and “we’re never seeing them again after this wedding.”
7. DON’T USE AI 🤖🚫
Your speech should sound like YOU. Personal, genuine and from the heart will always beat something generated by a robot.
Save this for the next wedding you’re speaking at — and if you need a hand, I’m always here 👋
