FEATURE ARTIST | LESLEY WHITHAM
FEATURING FIDO, MAN’S BEST FRIEND
24 AUGUST – 7 SEPTEMBER 2026

We are excited to share the latest collection by Lesley Whitham, now on display at The Studio Gallery.

Playful at first glance, Lesley’s Fido works carry a beautifully familiar story of family, companionship and the small rituals that bind us together.

Continuing her Knitted Together series exploring familial bonds, Lesley introduces Fido - a dog of no particular breed, but one many of us will recognise. A constant companion, woven into the everyday fabric of family life through unwavering loyalty, trust and the simple joy of always being there.

The recurring thread of knitting holds another deeply personal connection for Lesley, drawn from childhood memories of her mother and grandmother and the familiar click-clack of knitting needles in the evenings - creating pieces, stitch by stitch, with love for their family.

As Lesley explains:

“This collection of work focusses mainly on Fido as part of the family. A continuation of my ‘Knitted Together’ series which explores familial bonds, Fido becomes knitted into everyday family life.

A dog of no particular breed, he is a constant companion with unwavering loyalty who brings a lot of joy to the home.”

FIDO - Latin: “I trust.”
- Lesley Whitham

Across paintings and hand-built ceramic sculpture, this latest collection captures that sentiment with all the warmth, character and gentle humour so distinctive of Lesley’s practice.

NEW TO THE GALLERY:
SUE EVA | GOLD PATTERNED BOWL

Quietly composed and beautifully restrained, Sue Eva’s Gold Patterned Bowl celebrates the character found in collected and everyday objects.

Three vessels sit against a softly neutral ground, with the intricacy and warmth of the central gold-patterned bowl becoming the natural focus. Subtle shifts in cream, stone and ochre, delicate shadows and considered detail give this intimate still life a wonderful sense of calm.

At 30 × 40 cm, it is a beautifully resolved smaller work - understated, warm and particularly lovely for an intimate space, or as part of a considered collection.

NEW WORKS AVAILABLE: Lesley Meaney | ‘Circumnavigating Uluru’s Quieter Side’

There is an extraordinary sense of movement in Lesley Meaney’s Circumnavigating Uluru’s Quieter Side - a landscape experienced not as a single view, but as something unfolding.

Layers of vivid colour, gestural mark-making and stitched canvas create a work alive with texture and rhythm; the burnt reds and pinks of the Australian interior meeting an unexpectedly luminous ground beneath.

At 125.5 cm wide, it is a beautifully proportioned statement piece - commanding enough to hold a space, while retaining the intimacy and intricacy that draws you closer.

A CLOSER LOOK | MEL BRIGG | 10-23 AUGUST 2026

There is something unmistakable about a Mel Brigg painting.

A long-standing artist of The Studio Gallery, Yallingup, Mel’s work has been part of our collection and our walls for many years - making it particularly special when a new selection arrives in the Gallery and the perfect Feature Artist placement.

His latest works demonstrate the breadth of a practice we have long admired.
From the beautifully restrained Vase with Daisies, to the unmistakably Australian character and atmosphere of Outback Gathering 2026, Mel moves effortlessly between still life and landscape while retaining the texture, depth and sensitivity to light so characteristic of his work.

Currently our collection of Mel Brigg originals are on display from 10-23 August, and available for acquisition at The Studio Gallery, Yallingup.

FEATURE ARTIST | MEL BRIGG
10–23 August 2026

We are delighted to host renowned Australian artist Mel Brigg as our Feature Artist for the next two weeks at The Studio Gallery.

A master of light, texture and perspective, Mel’s works invite quiet contemplation - capturing both the grandeur of the Australian landscape and the subtle beauty found in everyday moments. From the dramatic glow of Light Through the Gorge to the warmth and intimacy of Vase with Daisies, each painting reflects his remarkable ability to evoke emotion through colour and atmosphere.

As Mel shares:
“I have always been moved by the complexities of the human condition and my paintings are reflective of turbulent times that the human race may endure in countries with conflict. I also reflect on harmony and peace once proactive personal change has occurred.”

We invite you to visit the gallery and experience this beautiful collection in person.
These works, along with a selection of Mel’s newest and timeless originals, are currently available to view and acquire.

New paintings by Jeanette Dyson have just arrived in the gallery.

Perth artist Jeanette Dyson was a resident of Kununurra in the Kimberley for 10 years, painting daily at the Red Rock Art Gallery in a cultural exchange studio environment sharing Kimberley ochres with Indigenous Artists.

Jeanette’s paintings portray and celebrate the uniqueness of the Australian north, capturing the spatial isolation and texture of the landscape in a contemporary interpretation.

Her love of the Northwestern landscape is apparent in how she captures the unique colours and textures, using a variety of techniques including acrylic, Kimberley ochre, pearl dust and gold dust.

Jeanette has formed her own artistic identity through the influences of the landscape, specifically that of the Kimberley, Pilbara, the Northern Territory, and Kakadu.

Open Wednesday to Monday: 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays).
Visit us this week & relish in the magic of Jeanette’s transformative works, in real life.

Meet Douglas Kirsop.

For Douglas, painting has always been about light. How it falls, how it shifts, how it transforms a landscape into something you feel before you understand.

From the Kimberley coast to the ancient ranges of the north west, his works capture Australia at its most vast and most quietly beautiful.

Available now in the gallery.
