As usual it was a lovely Social this month. Lots of raffles. Fruit and vegetable boxes are favorite. It was supposed to rain all day but it held off. We had a couple of new singers, guitar players. One was Graham Parfitt, down from Nerangba. Graham usually frequents Golden Wattle, another nice club from our area. He decided to come and see our show. Thanks Graham, we enjoyed your songs. Another new singer was Keith Paul. It was a pleasure to watch his performance as well. We hope both of you come back and sing for us again. Our spotlight artist this month was Yvonne Kennedy. Yvonne sang 4 songs for us and was well applauded at the end of her spot. Most of our band is dressed in the new band shirts. Makes our shows more colorful I think. What do you think? Our new sound equipment should be delivered before our July Social. Thank you to all who helped to set up and those who assisted in the kitchen. It is the volunteers who make a club enjoyable and progressive. Haven't got videos yet. People shy. But here are photos of our day. Cheers.

Hi Folks. I forgot to mention that we will be having a short general meeting before music starts. Also, I thought I would let everyone know why we applied for a grant for new music sound equipment. You may say, but the sound is good, so why do we need new equipment. Our current equipment is time consuming to set up for our practice and social. The Mixer is the type you would use in a recording studio and is therefore hard to train anyone to use. The setup on stage is difficult as we have to use an extra amp for foldbacks. There are also leads running everywhere which creates a safety hazard. It takes extra time to run all the leads and not just anyone can do it. If our main man Trevor is away or running late we have trouble with the setup. The new equipment will have a lot less leads to plug in and most of the stage equipment will be controlled by the sound man at the mixer. This makes it easier to train people to use the mixer and to setup the stage. So basically for those that know the terminology we will have an active mixer amp and passive speakers. The only thing the sound man has no control over are the guitarist's amps. We have also bought 2 new amps for rhythm players. We have only needed to dip into club funds by $13 to purchase the new equipment. I have never been queried about what we are doing but I thought I would let everyone know as we do not get many at our general meetings. Cheers. Neil.

Howdy Folks. Another month. Practice is next Saturday the 9th. Door is open at 10.30 for setup. Practice starts when setup is complete. $3 entry to help with rental cost. Free beverages and bickies. Good time to get drumbeats for your new songs. We use a drum machine for our socials so they are required for our Socials. Drum beats will not be sourced up on stage at our social but Christine may be available to get drumbeats before social starts. But in saying that, getting them at practice is easy for everyone. Hope to see you there.

We had a terrific social this month. I know I say this every month but it keeps getting better. We advertised widely on facebook community groups and had some new faces on the day. 60 bums on seats which is good for our small, growing club. New singers as well. Melisa, an 11 year old chose " We are Australian" as one of her songs. Beautiful voice. We also had Troy and Noelene from Mackay. Noelene sang and played accordion while Troy sang, played guitar and mandolin. Plus Lennie was our spotlight artist. I hope to be able to post videos of his performance. The weather was beautiful. We had sound troubles last month but for some reason the sound gremlins didn't create problems this month. Here are some photos of our day.

Hi folks. I just heard that Ray Cullen has passed away. I have no further details at the moment. Ray was not a member of our club but he is widely known in the country music family. When I hear more I will let you know.

Good news for the club. We applied for a grant for new equipment from the Gambling fund run by the government. We were successful and received $4708. We are now able to buy 2 Fender Guitar amps, a new mixer, new front of house speakers and good quality leads. We have always had good sound at our club but now and then the equipment lets us down. It's a win win win for the sound guy, the band and the audience. Thank you to all that made this possible.

A happy Easter to all those that follow the tradition. Happy chocolate eating to those that don't. Almost time for our April Social. Lennie Sargeant will be our Spotlight Artist for this month. Joe was talking to an 11 year old busker at a market recently and invited him and his Mum to our social. They contacted me for details and hopefully we will get to hear him this month. We have practice next Saturday, 11th April. Hope to get a good turn up. Then Sunday the 19th is the Social. Hope to see you there. Cheers
