Established in 1961, Savoyards has a rich history in the Brisbane community musical theatre scene, providing a culture of participation in the arts to thousands of creatives over the last 60 years. Savoyards became a touring company in the 70's and 80's, taking musicals to audiences around Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Northern Rivers areas. Since 2002, Savoyards has been based at the Iona
Performing Arts Centre in Lindum, continuing to draw audiences from all over South East Queensland, with shows that have received Del Artè Charts recognitions for everything from costume and set design, choreography, and direction. The organisation encourages creative growth through their Star Theatre project, equipping a team to produce smaller scale musicals in the Star Theatre, Wynnum each year. This project develops the technical skills of emerging theatre practitioners and expands the organisation's production style to engage a wider audience.
