In 2016, after a couple of years trying, Press Play finally secured the tour every boutique promoter in Australia had tried to do for decades - SU***DE . Singer ALAN VEGA ‘s health wasn’t great but we guess he figured now was the time to finally make a trip down under. It was all set - One exclusive show only Dark M**o in the gorgeous Odeon Theatre performing their first album in its entirety + other selections from their career. Due to Alan’s health the festival extended their generosity to a flight from NYC - LA - Sydney - Hobart with an overnight stop at each location to break up the long flight both Vega and Martin Rev dreaded - and then a full week in Hobart to get over jet lag before the concert of a lifetime. As the date drew nearer, Alan’s health deteriorated and eventually due to doctor’s orders the trip was cancelled. Less than a month later on 16th July 2016, Alan passed away. Today we celebrate a pioneering life of art that pushed the boundaries and challenged the establishment. We’d like to thank Alan’s partner Liz Lamere who so ably conducted negotiations but it was her love and care for Alan that shone through. Although we missed out on that tour it was a pleasure to have Presented Lydia Lunch Official Page last month as she and Andrew Coates (Black Cab Official ) performed the songs of Su***de & Alan Vega. In some way this was our tribute to Alan. RIP Alan Vega x
