Dance Social Podcast: Artwork reveal!
Back in July 2025, I posted a call out for a designer for the Dance Social Logo
[Image description: a screenshot of Lisa’s badly designed call out for a designer. Enlarged text reads “Design is not my strong point – please send help!]
Around 30 amazing artists answered the call! I’m so glad I did an open call, because it helped me connect with people I never would have found otherwise...
One of those artists was Dami Fawehinme, aka Sunnys Art Studio
[Image description: Photo of Dami standing in the middle of a flowered archway, with her hands up in peace signs. They are a slim dark-skinned Black person, wearing denim dungarees, a long sleeved orange jumper with a golden Africa necklace]
I felt like Dami really “got” the project, and loved how they combine a playful style with important messages
[Image description: Two colourful pieces of art by Dami. One has cartoon versions of a black woman as their younger and older self. Text reads “We have always been here, we will always be here!” with the word “always” underlined. The other is a dark skinned Black girl wearing a school summer dress a hot pink Afro. Text read “Protect Q***r youth so we have a future of q***r elders”.]
So I was thrilled when Dami agreed to design the Dance Social Logo. Their fabulous design is inspired by the podcast’s themes of social dancing, q***rness, disability and different cultures
So without further ado... Let me present the Dance Social logo!
[Image description: The logo is a cartoon style artwork of a large pink disco ball surrounded by joyful dancing figures. The figures have a range of skin tones from dark brown to pink and their clothes are the colours of different pride flags - trans, intersex and le***an. One is using a wheelchair, one uses a cane, one has a hearing aid and another has an artificial limb on their right leg. Overlaid text reads "Dance Social".]
