Next week: Dads -- get involved in Men's Health Week with Macedon Ranges Youth ...

For Men’s Health Week 2026 the Macedon Ranges Shire Council Youth team are promoting and supporting the mental health, physical health and emotional wellbeing of all dads in the Macedon Ranges with a special Dad’s Tuning in to Kids event.

DATE: Wednesday 17 June
VENUE: Woodend Primary School

5:30pm - CONNECT with a fun, social, physical activity + a BBQ facilitated by Macedon Ranges Masters Football Club, Woodend Eagles Soccer Club & Woodend Hesket Football Netball Club.
6:45pm - Be INSPIRED & feel SUPPORTED by our key-note speaker, Gabriel from Rad Dads.
7:00pm - EMPOWER yourself with practical parenting tools to add to your toolkit with a “Dad’s Tuning in to Kids” information session by Anthony Woodruff.

We're looking forward to running some school holiday workshops for Families (Adults + Seniors + Kids), Juniors (Prep to Yr 3) and Upper Primary / Secondary artists and musicians.

Our Mentors are keen to run workshops and ensembles across Music, Art, Film and more -- but we'd love to know what you'd like to get involved in!

Looking for some fun and creative activities for this school holidays? Creative Ranges Network and the Creative Ranges Foundation together with PepperHorn Music have you covered!

We've developed dottl.app -- a fun and interactive composition tool. It's still early days but you can get busy writing some fun tunes!

Dottl.app is unopinionated -- meaning the ONLY rule is that your note needs to be the same pitch, higher or lower than the note to the left of it. It's that simple!

In our testing some musicians have had fun making random compositions or trying their hand at some musical pixel art.

We're always looking for fun and novel ways to lock in new skills and learning at the Creative Ranges Network and Creative Ranges Foundation.

That's why we put this worksheet together so you can lock in your scales and patterns in different ways:

- #1: What key is it in? How do we work out the key signature?
- #2: If it is a minor key, what is the relative major (then see #1!)
- #3: Once you have the key and think about your pattern write out the **note names** up and down. Play it to taste test!
- #4: Then maybe have a think about writing it on a stave

This is aimed at anyone learning new scales, arpeggios, patterns -- or perhaps preparing for an AMEB or other exam!

The more ways you can encode this information will allow you to store and decode it later with ease! Try playing the scale or pattern backwards, skip every other note, play it with different rhythms, SING it (please, sing it!!).
