POV: someone thinks being a wedding florist is just playing with pretty flowers all day ✨

Meanwhile… I’m at the flower markets up at 3am, lifting buckets, conditioning stems, writing quotes, answering emails, consult calls, loading vans, setting up, packing down, being nice/ friendly in the mix! Managing website, managing social pages, content creation, much more and wondering why my back hurts…. At only 26 🥲

It’s not a hobby. It’s a business. A very pretty, very chaotic, full-time job 🤍

The lead-up to Father’s Day has been a little different this year. I’ve tried to ignore it, push it aside and pretend it’s just another day… but in the end, all I really want to do is celebrate Dad 🤍🪶

Celebrate the incredible person he was, the life he lived, and the joy he brought to everyone around him 💛
And of course, on cue this morning, the beautiful black cockatoos in our back yard, singing their songs

I talk about Dad all the time. I tell stories, laugh at the things he used to do, hear his sayings in my head and find little reminders of him in the most unexpected places. And honestly, I think that’s how I want it to be. Because talking about him keeps him close

There are definitely more hard days now that he isn’t here, and some days the missing him catches me completely off guard. But alongside the sadness are so many beautiful memories, so much laughter and so much love. I feel it is so important to love the days through it all (take it by the balls hah) and really make the most of everything, yes the grief will always be there but make joy out of it, bring the happiness that he did to everyone around him, all the time

So today isn’t just about missing Dad. It’s about celebrating him
The incredible dad he was. The person he was. And how lucky I am that I got to call him mine

Daffodil Day 💛

Daffodil Day feels a little different this year

Last year, Dad was still here. This year, we’re learning how to keep moving forward without him and some days, that feels harder than others

Grief doesn’t really go away. You just learn to carry it. And while we keep pushing through, there are still so many moments that bring everything rushing back

Cancer changes everything. It changes families, friendships, futures and the people we thought we’d have forever. Sadly, so many of us know that feeling far too well 🌼

We won’t be doing Daffodil Day at Brilliant Blooms this year, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to support this incredible cause💛

If you see your local florist selling daffodils, buy a bunch. If you can, make a donation to Cancer Council. Every little bit helps fund research, support families and hopefully bring us closer to a day where fewer families have to hear the words “there’s nothing more we can do.”
