πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ίβ€οΈ There's something special about teaching on home soil.

With so much of my schedule now spent travelling and teaching overseas, opportunities to teach at workshops here in Australia are becoming increasingly rare.

That's why being able to fit in two recent workshops with the Bay Bootscooters in Nelson Bay NSW and the Southern Mustangs Tas Line Dancing in Hobart TAS was so special.

The attendance at both workshops was fantastic, but more importantly, the enthusiasm, energy and willingness to learn were second to none. Everyone embraced the material with open arms, gave it their all, and made each session an absolute pleasure to teach.

Across the two workshops, we conquered a great mix of current favourites, recent releases and brand-new choreography, including:

✨ BABY BLUES CHA β€” Simon Ward Linedance & Shane McKeever Dance
✨ TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF β€” Simon & Jo Thompson Szymanski
✨ SWEET PORTLAND DREAMS β€” Simon Ward, Niels Poulsen, Jean-Pierre Madge Line Dance Rebecca Lee Line Dance Guyton Mundy & Amy Glass
✨ OPALITE β€” Simon Ward
✨ MOVE LIKE FIRE β€” Jamie Barnfield
✨ MOVIMIENTO β€” Karl Harry Winson Line Dance
✨ LOVE BITES BACK β€” Simon Ward & Niels Poulsen
✨ FLIP A QUARTER β€” Janet Kearney
✨ SHAKE IT (FIREBALL) β€” Cowboy Ron

With dances catering for everyone from Absolute Beginners through to experienced Intermediate dancers, it was great to see the floor filled with people learning, challenging themselves and, most importantly, having fun.

Whether it was a familiar favourite or something completely new, everyone threw themselves into it and gave it their all.
I genuinely love teaching at home.

I love connecting with my Australian dance community, and I never take these opportunities for granted.

A huge thank you to both clubs for your incredible hospitality. Especially Janelle Jago, Liz, Suzie, Karen and Wendy. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel welcome and looked after, and I truly appreciate the effort that goes into making these weekends such a success.

Thank you to everyone who attended, danced, laughed and shared the floor with me. Love you guys and gals to bits πŸ€—

I had an absolute ball and I'm already looking forward to coming back and doing it all again next year.

Until next time... 🀠

This one is a little different. Something that's not being done a lot out there right now.

A 2-wall, 48-count Intermediate West Coast Swing line dance set to the incredible bluesy track Before You Accuse Me by Eric Burdon.

It's been 12 years since Jo and I last worked together on a dance β€” "YES" back in 2014 β€” so creating this one together while spending time in Spain was a really special experience.

On a personal note, Jo is a huge part of why I chose this path. As a 17-year-old kid in Australia, I sat and watched her do her thing on stage and thought, "That's what I want to do." It sparked a dream that eventually became my career.

So thank you, Jo, for the inspiration, the friendship, and for always being in my corner along the way. ❀️

We are thrilled at the response so far where we have been able to teach it, so we hope you enjoy dancing it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

🌍 Home from Europe... and what an incredible journey it was. 🌍

Over the past three weeks, I had the privilege of sharing my passion for line dancing with people from all corners of the world.

Tour Stops:

πŸ“ France πŸ‡«πŸ‡·
πŸ“ Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ
πŸ“ Turkey πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·
πŸ“ Switzerland πŸ‡¨πŸ‡

What an experience it was.

Throughout the tour, I had the opportunity to teach some of my current favourites filling dance floors around the world, as well as a few brand-new dances still to be released. Watching dancers connect with new choreography for the very first time never gets old, and their enthusiasm and support made every workshop a pleasure to be part of.

I also had the privilege of working alongside some of the very best in our industry (who I call family), teaching and dancing with amazing communities, and witnessing firsthand the passion, dedication and love that exists within our global line dance family. The dancing was off the charts, the performances were inspiring, and the energy in every room was something truly special.

Beyond the dance floor, I immersed myself in different cultures, incredible food, breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences. From bustling cities and historic landmarks to stunning coastlines and mountain views, every destination had something unique to offer.

But what continues to amaze me most is how line dancing connects people. Different languages, different backgrounds, different countries β€” yet the moment the music starts, we all speak the same language.

This tour has left me with memories that will stay with me forever, new friendships, renewed inspiration, and a heart full of gratitude.

A special thank you must go to the people who made this incredible journey possible:

❀️ Baptiste Brn
❀️ Amund Storsveen
❀️ Thomas Larsen
❀️ Isabel Steiner
❀️ Jonathan Sack
❀️ Rémi Lemaire

Thank you for your trust, friendship, hospitality, and for the opportunity to share my passion with your events and communities. Each stop on this tour was unique, and each of you played a part in creating an experience that I will never forget.

The work that goes on behind the scenes to create these events is immense, and I have so much respect and appreciation for everything you do for our dance community. A special mention must also go to the incredible volunteers and support staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes, often around the clock, to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible. Their dedication, hard work and willingness to help never go unnoticed, and they play a huge part in making our stay such an enjoyable and memorable experience. I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of it.

Thirty-three years ago, a high school dropout from Kiama, NSW, Australia, stepped onto a dance floor and fell in love with line dancing. I could never have imagined that one day it would take me across continents, introduce me to lifelong friends, and allow me to share my passion with people around the world.

Life doesn't always take you where you expect to go, but sometimes the most incredible journeys begin with a single step.

The rest of the year and 2027 is going to be even bigger πŸ₯³

100% Blessed πŸ™

Sorry about all the photos but I really wanted to share the experience with you all. This is only the half of it πŸ₯°

Much Love,
Si 🫢
