The past couple of years I’ve designed and been a part of several organisations Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) journeys πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

The RAP process can be overwhelming and some not sure where to start.

Some things to keep in mind:

Acknowledgement of Country
Learn to facilitate meaningful acknowledgements that honour Traditional Custodians and demonstrate respect for the continuing connection to lands, waters, and communities.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in the Workplace
Discover how to authentically invite and integrate First Nations voices, stories, and perspectives into your environment.

Cultural Responsiveness for Staff
Build your team's cultural competency through targeted professional development that transforms understanding into respectful practice.

Welcome to Country
Understand the protocols and significance of Welcome to Country ceremonies, fostering genuine partnerships with Traditional Owners.

Celebrate National Reconciliation Week
Create impactful events and activities that meaningfully engage your entire workplace community in reconciliation conversations.

Build Relationships with Community
Establish authentic, reciprocal partnerships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities based on mutual respect and shared goals.

Teach About Reconciliation
Integrate reconciliation education across your induction process, engaging approaches that inspire understanding.

Explore Current Affairs and Issues
Navigate contemporary First Nations issues sensitively, helping staff understand historical contexts and current realities.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flags
Learn the history, protocols, and significance of displaying flags respectfully within your workplace environment.

Take Action Against Racism
Implement effective anti-racism strategies that create culturally safe spaces for all staff.

Curriculum Planning
Audit and enhance your curriculum to authentically embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all areas.

Inclusive Policies
Review and transform workplace policies to ensure they reflect and support reconciliation commitments.

Staff Engagement with RAP
Foster whole-workplace commitment through strategic staff engagement and professional learning opportunities.

Celebrate RAP Progress
Document, reflect upon, and celebrate your reconciliation journey, inspiring continued growth and community involvement.

Create your own reconciliation statement to guide your actions and deliverables.
