Emotions are high, people are panic shopping in response, taking up space in doctors waiting rooms, or preparing to “socially isolate”, can we all just take a minute? Knowing when to stop - if only for a moment - and take a moment of mindfulness/meditation/self care can do wonders for the psyche.

Be prepared, sure, but also be calm. You’ll be doing yourself (and the rest of us) a favour.

“BURLESQUE MODEL”??? Nope. Just nope. This person is not known amongst the burlesque crowd, nor is any inappropriate behaviour- such as seen here - tolerated in the community. This article claims that this woman is a “burlesque model”, and that (along with her actions) are very much not okay.

Off with you, woman. Pedophiles are not welcome here, nor is the association with burlesque.

(Yes, I’m well aware that A Current Affair - and everything associated with it - is hardly a legitimate news source. However, there are others who don’t care to think so critically, and WILL believe that this woman is one of our family. This would only serve to tarnish everything that we work for, and continue to work towards, hence the post).

A burlesque model has been accused of grooming a 13-year-old boy online, sending him explicit messages, naked photos and joking that she was a “pedo”.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our wonderful friend, Kodi. Nephew of , long-time supporter of The Burlesque Basement/Uncultured CHAOS, he was a talented performer/singer in his own right. The treasured memories of Kodi’s smile, and soulful song, will continue to warm us from within.

“...Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone,
Nor when I’m gone speak in a Sunday voice
But be the usual selves that I have known.
Weep if you must, Parting is hell,
But Life goes on, So sing as well.”

With the recent coming together of various elements, The Burlesque Basement will be slipping into hiatus for a short time.

• The health of our producers, Sofonda Blackmen and Mellfire N. Brimstone requires heavy treatments, which, in turn, are having an effect on many factors of their lives, including the ability to mount quality productions. Knowing when it’s time to pause is good self-care, and right now is the time for a whole lot of it. Lyme Disease and Multiple Sclerosis are harsh masters when they want to be. Only time will tell how long these effects will continue to have a hold.

• Renovations at The Builders Club are underway, and it’s in everyone’s best interest to wait until they’re over to book new dates.

• Shenanigans behind the scenes at the latest show (The Burlesque Basement does HALLOWEEN) have caused tension with performers, producers, and media representatives. We would like to take the time to work through this issue appropriately. Said issue is external to The Burlesque Basement, however it has had a negative effect on the working environment - a place where we do our best to maintain a positive and safe workspace.

Many thanks to our performers, audience, and friends/family who have worked behind the scenes thus far. We’re merely taking a well earned break, and will return soon. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 @ The Builders Club

Were you at The Burlesque Basement does HALLOWEEN? I’ll bet you wish you were now! The photos from our amazing photographer, Rob from Digital Image Studio, are finally out. It is EXTREMELY HARD to pick only 10 to highlight in one post, but here’s a taste of what was an INCREDIBLE show. Huge thanks not only to our amazing performers, but also to the wonderful audience.

Photos were cropped by Instagram (ugh), but ALL CREDITS go to Rob Studdert at Digital Image Studio. @ The Builders Club

We have started taking online donations for our favourite causes on the same site where we sell our tickets. This has been a great way to not only raise funds, but also for those who can’t attend a show yet would love to help out, or for people who don’t carry much in the way of spare cash and/or are buying their tickets online so why not throw in a little extra?

At The Burlesque Basement does HALLOWEEN, we collected for the Grafton Age Care Sanctuary for Old Abandoned Pound Dogs (and other wonderful animals). We raised $187.85 (as you can see by our deposit receipt here).

We’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who donated, and show that your money went exactly where we said it would. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 @ The Builders Club
