Humpback Whale in Charcoal. Loved drawing this beautiful animal.

It took quite a while, mostly because I had to figure out how to get the dark areas to be a really deep inky black. Ended up putting it on the floor and rubbing whole charcoal blocks directly into the paper haha. Lots of fun but very messy

Finally finished this whale of a drawing. I saw this photo by and begged him to let me draw it.

A couple of people have asked me about prints for so I think I'll do a run of ten prints in this size. If you're interested, let me know.

I've been really into this dark style of photography for a while and thought it'd be sick to draw a large animal in charcoal. I was imagining an elephant or some other land animal but after seeing this photo, knew a whale was the way to go.

The new owner of this picked it up yesterday and was super happy - nothing warms my heart like a person who thinks their dog is just the best thing ever.

I had a fine time listening to audiobooks and drawing this huge portrait. I'm trying desperately to get through my 52 books in a year goal but unfortunately with two kids and a full time job I don't think I'll make it this year. I'm about 6 books behind and the end of 2021 is quickly approaching.
