What is Hiraeth?

A whisper through the trees, a mournful cry,
In twilight’s hush, where fading echoes lie,
A name for longing, hearts forever tied,
Hiraeth calls, where memories reside.

A place unseen, yet felt in every bone,
A past that lingers, dreams of lands unknown,
Of hills and valleys, where the wildflowers grown,
Hiraeth sings, a melody alone.

The ancient stones remember every name,
Of those who walked these paths, now not the same,
A shadowed yearning, like a flickering flame,
Hiraeth stirs, within the heart's own frame.

No road can lead to where the spirit flies,
No journey finds the home behind the eyes,
In every tear that falls, a soft reprise,
Hiraeth dwells, where endless longing lies.

A bridge between the then and now, it stands,
A timeless bond, felt in far distant lands,
In dreams, in whispers, in the touch of hands,
Hiraeth lives, where love’s own echo expands.
