The only outback film festival of it's kind. So... Where is Winton?

Films are screened under the stars of the outback in the historic open-air Royal Theatre in Winton’s main street in Outback Queensland, Australia. Screening new releases, contemporary, cult and classic films, the program is augmented with intimate opportunities to meet leading legends from the Australian film industry

Hosting multiple events over 9 days - you can join us for our big Opening Night

Party, Welcome to Country, Breakfast With the Stars, Master Classes, Panel Discussions, Vision Splendid Kids Club, and Location tours to experience first hand where films are made around this special part of Outback Queensland. And why Winton? After the world premiere screening of Ivan Sen’s feature film “Mystery Road” occurred in Winton, a few friends of the town were at the North Gregory Hotel and developed the concept of hosting an Outback film festival. This festival was to be dedicated to the Queensland and Australian film industry, and most specifically, to screen films and storytelling that is inspired by our Australian Outback. Although most Aussies live by the sea, we have an intrinsic association with the outback and the values we hold so close to our hearts, such as mateship and a belief in a “fair go” for all. Many film makers, photographers, screen writers and creatives have been inspired by these most ancient, sometimes brutal but beautiful landscapes. Some of the feature films made around Winton, include “The Proposition”, “Mystery Road” and “Goldstone”. We hope there are many more to come. The Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival is a not-for-profit community organisation of local Winton residents and industry professionals who have a love of Australian Film, Queensland’s Outback and sharing, creating and inspiring a vision for this very special place. WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🙏

We’re unfortunately losing access to this page. We’ve tried our best to find another way around it, but without boring you with the details, we have one simple request:

Could you PLEASE head over and follow our new official page linked below?

It’s looking a little quiet over there right now, but hopefully not for long! All of our 2027 festival updates and everything Vision Splendid will now be shared from our new home.

It would mean a lot to us if you could make the move with us. It's sad to lose 13 years of audience and content!

Maybe share this with one friend you reckon needs to experience Vision Splendid in Winton next year.

A couple of clicks from you = a huge help in promoting our little festival ❤️

Come on over, we’ll see you there! 👇

One of the biggest nights in Vision Splendid history 🐊✨

Celebrating 40 years of Crocodile Dundee alongside the original Never Never Safari Tours truck and Paul Hogan's place on the Winton Walk of Fame was something we'll never forget.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it so memorable! Will we see you back in Winton in 2027?

Liked it? Everyone loved it! 🤩

For the past few years, have transformed our Silent Night screenings with incredible live scores, and this year’s performance of Love Serenade was no exception.

What film would you love to see them score in 2027? 🎸
