Party, Welcome to Country, Breakfast With the Stars, Master Classes, Panel Discussions, Vision Splendid Kids Club, and Location tours to experience first hand where films are made around this special part of Outback Queensland. And why Winton? After the world premiere screening of Ivan Senâs feature film âMystery Roadâ occurred in Winton, a few friends of the town were at the North Gregory Hotel and developed the concept of hosting an Outback film festival. This festival was to be dedicated to the Queensland and Australian film industry, and most specifically, to screen films and storytelling that is inspired by our Australian Outback. Although most Aussies live by the sea, we have an intrinsic association with the outback and the values we hold so close to our hearts, such as mateship and a belief in a âfair goâ for all. Many film makers, photographers, screen writers and creatives have been inspired by these most ancient, sometimes brutal but beautiful landscapes. Some of the feature films made around Winton, include âThe Propositionâ, âMystery Roadâ and âGoldstoneâ. We hope there are many more to come. The Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival is a not-for-profit community organisation of local Winton residents and industry professionals who have a love of Australian Film, Queenslandâs Outback and sharing, creating and inspiring a vision for this very special place.
