The artists creating Shona Sculptures in Zimbabwe have no specialised training. They are self taught artists who share techniques between each other. They watch the experienced artists, understand stones properties and continue to develop their craft over the years. Find the artists on our website to see the stunning work that they produce.

Brighton Tendayi is a 32-year-old stone carver. He began his career in art at a very tender age, when he started moulding clay domestic animals. He started stone carving at the age of 12, drawing inspiration from animals. He has always thought of ways to express his passion for wild animals, especially those which he has learnt are being gradually driven to xtinction through poaching. His sculptures are therefore meant to raise awareness and educate future generations about the lives of these wild animals.
