Hi all, working as fast as I can to update info as I obtain it.

Doing my best and I apologise as my typing will probably get a little chaotic!

So far, we're looking at the same road closures as last week, but i'm chasing confirmation in regards to the exact time frame and I'm expecting to have info about the point to point during the night.

If you're on the south side of Willunga ie tunnel side of High :) you'll be able to get in and our of town via Giles etc

Other side, ie golf end, Hall Rd etc will get you in and out.

HOT WEATHER UPDATE โ€“ STILL ON ๐ŸŒž

With hot and windy conditions forecast, we wanted to share a clear update for this weekend.

The event is still going ahead, with a strong focus on comfort and welfare for everyone choosing to attend.

Hereโ€™s what will be available on site:

๐Ÿ’ง Free drinking water

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Misting areas set up under trees

๐Ÿฆ Gelato, ice-cream & dessert trucks + pies, sausage rolls, pasties

โ˜• Coffee and cold drinks

๐Ÿšฒ Bike-friendly site with bike racks

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ And the BIG SCREEN of course.

With strong winds forecast, not all shade structures can be safely used. There will still be natural shade under trees, but shaded areas may be more limited than at past events.

If you need a longer cool-down, the Willunga RSL across the road will be open with air-conditioning and indoor seating. Our site will remain bike-friendly, with bike racks available.

Please note:
๐ŸŽถ Live music has been cancelled for performer safety (artists will still be paid).
๐Ÿ”ฅ The BBQ has been cancelled due to the Total Fire Ban.

Weโ€™ll be managing conditions hour by hour and encourage everyone to listen to their bodies, take breaks, hydrate, and make the choice that feels right for them.

As always, safety comes first โ€” and we appreciate your understanding and support.

Make sure you check back for updates before you head down tomorrow.

Thanks all ๐Ÿ’š
J

Yep, it's gonna be a warm one on Saturday but we're still on track to be round in the square so that you can be up close to the action for the Santos Tour Down Under on Saturday.

Watch the riders pass by and catch the rest of the action on the big screen thanks to Novatech Creative Event Technology and South Australian Tourism Commission

Keep hydrated with free water refills on site, and keep cool with icecream and gelato and ice cold drinks.

We'll also have the mister sprays going during the day to try and keep that heat at bay.

Big thanks to Business Fleurieu Coast and City of Onkaparinga for supporting this community event, and to our great local community for always making Willunga a special part of the TDU event calendar.

Coming to Willunga on Saturday 24th Jan?

Whether you're here for the Santos Tour Down Under heading to the Willunga Farmers Marketor just heading into Willunga to enjoy the great array of local businesses, the town is open and accessible!

There is a hard road closure for 'up the hill' but we're only looking at rolling road closures for the rest of the town and race circuit.

That means no issues getting to Willunga Farmers Market, or the High Street or the Live Site - Tour Down Under: Think! Road Safety Stage 4 Picnic in the Square

If you are coming to the Square to watch the race on the big screen we recommend parking in Willunga Recreation Park as there are parking restrictions around town for the race.

Access to 'Rec Park' is ONLY from Railway Tce via Aldinga Road as race sponsors Hyundai Australia will be setting up in the Main Road entrance meaning it is closed to vehicle access. It will cost $5 to park and funds raised will go to maintaining and improving community facilities including those used by the local primary school, CFS, Meals on Wheels, CWA and RSL, girl guides, many sporting groups and many others.

From Willunga Recreation Park it's a stroll across the road to The Town Square and the Picnic in the Square and an easy walk to High Street and great local businesses.

The Tour Down Under is no reason to not visit Willunga, or to avoid local businesses. If anything it's a great day to enjoy a great festival atmosphere and celebrate this beautiful region and each other.

Can't thank everyone enough for being a part of Women's Stage 1 Picnic in the Square yesterday.
Biggest turn out ever for a women's event here xx

Next Saturday we'll be 'round again, with Santos Tour Down Under Think Men's Stage 4 Picnic in the Square.

Yep the name is a mouthful, and speaking of which, we'll have some great food and beverage vendors rolling in to keep the picnic going.

Fleurieu Folk Festival will be having a sausage party and sizzling up the snags and onions all day.

Plus gelato, desserts, Greek pastries, coffee and free water refills thanks to Compass Tanks and the awesome rainbow tank.

And we'll have the big screen going too.

See you round soon!

The Tour Down Under is rolling through South Australia from 16โ€“25 January 2026 โ€” and that means eyes on the Fleurieu ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

With the route passing through places like Aldinga, Willunga and across much of the Fleurieu, this is a huge opportunity to showcase what makes our towns, businesses and community so special. Events like the Tour Down Under put our region on the world stage and bring visitors, energy and attention to our local streets.

The womenโ€™s race kicks things off on Saturday 17 January (Stage 1), followed by the menโ€™s stages later in the week โ€” creating a full week of activity, movement and opportunity for local business.

For businesses, itโ€™s a great moment to think about how you might show up during the event โ€” whether thatโ€™s extended trading (where permitted), welcoming visitors, creating something special in-store, collaborating with others, or simply supporting the local initiatives happening around you.

Thereโ€™s also plenty happening locally alongside the race, including the Willunga Live Site on Saturday 24 January, aligned with Menโ€™s Stage 4, helping create a real sense of buzz across the region.

If you havenโ€™t already, itโ€™s worth checking the official race details and maps to see how the event connects with your town:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Willunga Live Site โ€“ Saturday 24 January:

What happens in our towns matters to our businesses โ€” and this is one of those moments where community, visibility and local impact come together.
