Cat Jardine is back at Williamstown Little Theatre, and her return is well overdue. She last graced this stage in Jumpers for Goalposts (2023), with earlier WLT appearances in Under Milk Wood and Vincent in Brixton. In 2016 she took home the Win Stewart Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role for The Nance.

Cat has also collected Victorian Drama League Awards for her roles in Hand to God, In the Next Room or The Vi****or Play, and Present Laughter. Off stage, she's a visual artist completing a Diploma in Visual Arts — and she won the ABC Brisbane Bradley Award for her portrait of Costa Georgiadis. Not a quiet life, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

From Tasmania to Melbourne, Caleb Sweet has been building a career with a lot of range. He trained under Alison Stanton-Cook before relocating in 2024 to begin his Bachelor of Acting at JMC Academy. His theatre credits include Gomez in The Addams Family, Duke Orsino in Twelfth Night, and Baldwin in Cry-Baby. On screen, his work in The Army Dreamers earned him a ROSCO Best Supporting Actor nomination.

Beyond performing, Caleb has been developing his own films — driven by a passion for meaningful storytelling. Holding the Man fits that description exactly. He's honoured to portray John Caleo in a story he describes as tender and enduring, and it shows.

Harley Wilcher was gifted Holding the Man in his early twenties. He took his time getting to it — his words — but once he did, Tim Conigrave's story stayed with him. Now he's stepping into Tim's shoes for his debut with Williamstown Little Theatre.

Harley has appeared at Essendon Theatre Company as Justin in Cosi and as Mark/Mia in Things I Know To Be True, both in 2025. He's the first to admit this role comes with nerves as well as excitement, and that the cast around him has made all the difference. We can't wait to see what he brings to the stage.

Five productions in, and Bruce Akers is back behind the helm at Williamstown Little Theatre. His most recent direction here was Jumpers for Goalposts in 2023 — but his WLT history stretches back to The History Boys in 2010, taking in God of Carnage and The Seafarer along the way.

Bruce is also no stranger to the stage itself. He has appeared in multiple WLT productions, earning the Cordell Award for Best Performance in a Leading Role for The Drawer Boy in 2008. His work spans decades, with wide-ranging credits at Heidelberg Theatre Company including Blood Brothers, Amadeus, and Angels in America. For Holding the Man, he brings all of that experience to one of Australian theatre's most beloved stories.

Based on a true story where the actress Tallulah Bankhead is called into a LA recording studio to rerecord one line of dialogue for the film Die! Die! My Darling! What should have taken eight minutes took eight tortuous, hilarious hours!

Meet our Director, Loretta Bishop

Loretta is delighted to return to directing at Williamstown Little Theatre, having last directed All My Sons in 2023. She is especially excited to bring the acclaimed play Looped to Williamstown.
Since moving to Melbourne in the early ‘90s, Loretta has gained a wealth of experience in all aspects of community theatre. She has directed at Peridot – Busy Body, Lend Me a Tenor; Sherbrooke Theatre Company – Doubt, Stepping Out; Lilydale Athenaeum - The Woman In Black, The Vicar of Dibley; The 1812 Theatre – Moonlight and Magnolias, The Vicar of Dibley; The Basin – A Happy and Holy Occasion; Brighton – Blood Brothers, After Miss Julie and Malvern Theatre Company – Morning Sacrifice, Any Given Monday.
She really enjoys the challenge of holding the “directorial baton” and collaborating with cast and crew to turn “words” into a theatrical experience.
