Puzzles make a lovely gift, a memento from this beautiful region and they also look fabulous framed!!! Christmas it not that far away!!!! (Good grief!!!)

My Wiradjuri Country / The Bland Shire Collection has 6 different puzzles, including The Yiddah Church and I am looking forward to adding more in the coming months/seasons/years!

These are now available online and will be available in store when I open. At this stage, it is looking like I will softly, gently and very quietly opening (Kevin, Rosie and I have to reacquaint ourselves with people and are working on our re-emergence) in early July (possibly) but that is a work in progress and will be confirmed here when it feels right.

My little store will be home to wall art, prints, cards, inspiration, gorgeous artisan products made by friends, books and locally sourced goodies and I can't wait to share this with you all. Stay tuned!!!

Conversations with Oday
Words by my friend Oday – follow on IG .7gaza

There is nothing left of Oday’s home. There is nothing left of Oday’s town. There is nothing left of Rafah, a city near Oday’s town. Wikipedia is referring to those places as “was”.

Oday is seeking refuge in Belgium. He is trying to keep his family alive. Whilst he is doing that he is coordinating the Gaza Aid Project delivering aid to Gaza with the help of his friends and family in Gaza who themselves are desperate for aid. Oday is also trying to get his fiancee out of Gaza, a promise he made as part of his engagement. Oday’s sister Ameera is desperately trying to survive life alone with her young son Amir until they can be reunited with her husband who is in Egypt after going there for

He is but one Palestinian man, but one couple in love, but one family and their story. There are hundreds and thousands of people with similar stories who desperately need help.

Oday is very dear to me as are his family and I made him a promise that I would continue to help him until they are all together again, safe.

Each day brings new hell to his family and Oday is doing his utmost to help keep them alive.

Please help my friend. No donation too small – everything helps. The smallest donation can mean the difference between life and death and also send a message of love and solidarity to him and his family.

Please help Oday help his family – all funds donated to this link, go to help Oday’s family, you can donate here:

Kevin, Rosie and I went for a town wander today instead of a Green Corridor wander and explored some streets of West Wyalong. This took us past St Mary's Catholic Church as the sun was rising.

"Roger Water’s mum once said to him, 'Roger, you’re going to come across all kinds of difficult things in your life and things you will have to ponder upon and where you will have to take a position and so on and so forth. And, when you have a difficult question, this is my advice to you. You should read, read, read everything you can. Find out everything that you can about whatever it is that you might be considering or thinking about. Everything you can read, read. Then read some more. When you’ve done that, you’ve done all the heavy lifting. The hard work is over; the next bit is easy.'

When Roger asked his mum what the next bit was, she replied, 'You do the right thing.'"

I first heard this story of Roger Waters when Sara Haddad, author of The Sunbird (adult and young reader's edition) travelled to my little store in Tenterfield to talk about her novella The Sunbird. The quote stuck in my head. The Sunbird, Sara, the quote and facing some really hard truths pretty much changed the trajectory of my life. It is simple really. Read as much as you can about something. Read some more. And some more. Then do the right thing.

I have always wanted to have a little bookstore. Sara's The Sunbird is the only book I have sold. So when I upended my life to move to West Wyalong I knew it was time. Not quite a store, but a book corner. A revolting one. Books that could change the world if people read them.

In a world where you can ChatGPT it rather than write it, google it rather than think it and watch hours of it rather than read it, the mere act of reading is a revolution in itself.

I know nothing about selling books so it is a learning process. But I can't wait to start putting some lovely new and used books on my shelves.

Pictured is the first of my stock The Sunbird by Sara Haddad and The Sunbird (Young Reader's edition) by Sara Haddad.
Also pictured is the self-appointed librarian, hard at work, Kevin.

Still on track to open last week of June/first week of July. Still waiting on a few things to happen but look forward to opening those doors.

Thank you to Shannon and Leah from West Wyalong Signs for creating such a perfect sign for my corner.

10/06/2026

This week, the UN released a report advising that by 2030, data centres could use enough water to meet the annual basic domestic needs of 1.3 billion people. That is the comparable water usage of the entire UK.

A recently released map showed that Data Centres in the US of A are predominantly built in drought stricken areas. (Makes sense as they are not going to be put in downtown Washington DC or anywhere fancy for god’s sake.) Residents up to 2 kilometres away report constant noise and inability to access water in their own homes.

Tech companies could not give a s**t about people – all they care about is the race to achieve AGI which is possibly only 2 to 5 years away. Experts are saying it is more likely to be closer to 2 years. When that happens and machines replace a vast proportion of the workforce and mass unemployment becomes a worldwide epidemic we do not have the infrastructures to cope.

But the Billionaires don’t really care because, well, they have never cared. You can’t actually be a Billionaire and care.

Where there is war, where there is slaughter, where this is mass surveillance there is Big Tech. Where there is genocide there are AI companies and there are Billionaires. Not only are war zones big business, they are also testing grounds for what happens when finite resources start to run dry.

Then we will regret that not only did we lose the ability to fight for others, but also for ourselves – we will howl at the moon and nobody will care enough to listen. By then AGI will be here and there will be enough slaughter-zone tested weapons to subdue the sedated masses if they ever did think, perhaps, that it was time to stand up and do something.

But hey at least we will have lots of cool dancing cat and prancing Trump videos to look at in the meantime so we will let them build their data centres. They already have us thinking there is nothing we can do.

we will build data centres
for funny little memes, and gifs
and brains that can no longer think
we will drain all the water tables
and then howl at the moon
when there is nothing left to drink
