HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thursday night will be the first Drunken Poet Open Mic Night of 2024 and will mark Laurence Hewson's 8th year of running it.

Laurence took over as host of the DPOM in 2016 and within months had to increased its frequency from once a month to twice a month. As of 2024 the Drunken Poet Open Mic Night will run on the 1st, 3rd AND 5th Thursdays of the month increasing it's frequency again to accommodate the high demand for spots.

As always the DPOM will be in-person sign up from 5pm when the empty list hits the bar, and will kick off between 7:00 and 7:30pm (depending on Laurence's work roster). There will be 15 official spots and 5 spares in case we have time at the end of the night. As each performer takes the stage their name is scratched from the list so Musicians please remember to keep an eye on where we're up to, it's your responsibility to make sure your instrument is already out of its case and tuned by the time we call your name.

Ken Tandberg sang at our very first open mic over a decade ago and you could count on 2 hands how many of them he's missed. Every open mic he gets up and let's rip on classic old songs archapella, charming thousands of people over the years.

Tonight he sings his 1000th song at the Drunken Poet Open Mic, a milestone we doubt will ever be surpassed by another artist.

If you've had the pleasure of seeing Ken perform over the years you'll know what a warm experience it is. Tonight we bask in the glory of his tenure and encourage everyone over the years who's been touched by his voice to come down and share this moment with him.
