🌼 MURAKAMI SUPERFLAT

For the child who believes there’s no such thing as too much colour 🌈🌼

This one is going to be JOYFUL.

Inspired by the bright, playful world of Takashi Murakami, kids will explore colour, repetition, printmaking and layering to create their own bold Superflat-inspired artwork.

Think happy flowers. Pop-art energy. Big colour. And lots of creative freedom.

But underneath all that fun, they’re also learning real artistic processes and discovering what happens when they experiment with their own ideas.

That’s the magic.

🌭 STREET ART SAUSAGE DOGS

Warning: very long dogs and VERY big personalities ahead 🌭🎨

This school holidays, we’re turning sausage dogs into bold works of street art.

Kids will paint their own colourful dachshund artwork while exploring pattern, layering, expressive marks and plenty of colour.

There’s no copying the teacher’s example perfectly here.

We want personality. Ideas. Experimenting. And artwork that feels completely theirs.

Perfect for kids who love painting, colour and making something a little different.

REALISTIC FACES | AGES 7–15

“I wish I could draw faces properly.”

If you’ve heard your child say something like this, this workshop is for them.

Our Realistic Faces drawing workshop for older kids and teens goes beyond a simple craft activity.

They’ll learn how artists actually approach:

✏️ facial proportions
👀 eyes, noses and mouths
💡 light and shading
🙂 expression
🎨 creating depth and realism

We’ve created this workshop especially for the older child who wants to improve their skills, not be treated like a little kid.

They’ll be challenged, supported and given time to really draw.

And that moment when they look at the finished portrait and realise, “I actually did that”?

That’s what we’re here for.

Calling all Jellycat lovers 🍰🐰

Imagine a pâtisserie filled with the cutest cakes, pastries and fluffy little characters, except your child gets to design the whole thing.

In our Jellycat Patisserie school holiday art workshop, kids will draw, design and create their own Jellycat-inspired sweet world while learning new art techniques along the way.

Cute? Very.
Creative? Absolutely.
Coming home empty-handed? Never.

We want them leaving with full hands, a full heart and something they can’t wait to show you.

How do we teach kids to draw at Little Bite Studio? 🎨

Today we’re drawing and painting figs.

Most kids look at a fig and think purple. But when we slow down and really look, we start finding pink, red, blue, green, orange and yellow too.

This is something we practise in our kids art classes in Wentworth Point, Sydney.

We’re learning how to draw, of course, but we’re also learning how to observe.

To notice colour.
To experiment.
To make our own choices.
To trust what we see instead of what we think something should look like.

It’s one of my favourite parts of teaching art to kids. 💛

So parents, try this one at home. Pick an everyday object and ask:

“What colours can you actually see?”

You might be surprised by the answer. 👀

🍜 Yummy Noodles by our Junior Creatives!

There’s something we love about giving kids a big A3 page.

At first it can feel like a lot of space.

Then slowly, the noodles get longer, the toppings get bigger, little details start appearing… and before we know it, there’s barely any white paper left. 😂

For this lesson, our Junior Creatives explored composition, shape, proportion and detail, while designing their own giant bowl of noodles.

And this is our favourite part…

Look how different they are.

We can teach the same lesson to a whole class, but we never want the same artwork coming back to us.

Their choices are part of the learning too. 💛

Big paper. Big ideas. Very yummy results. 🍜🎨

Tiny hands. BIG learning. 🎨💛

Our Mini Creatives are only 3–5 years old, and for many of them, this is their very first art class.

So we start with the little things.

How to hold and control our tools.
How to follow a shape.
How to draw BIG instead of teeny tiny.
How to listen, look and follow along.
How to choose our own colours.
And perhaps the biggest one…

How to have a go without worrying if it’s “right”.

Week by week, those little habits start to grow.

The lines become more confident.
They need a little less help.
They start making their own decisions.

And eventually, “Can you help me?” becomes…

“LOOK WHAT I DID!” 🥹

That’s what Mini Creatives is really about.

Yes, we’re teaching art.

But we’re also helping our littlest artists build confidence, independence and a love of creating from the very beginning. 💛

We asked a few of our young artists at the studio what they’ve learnt about Vincent van Gogh… and they had so much to share! 🎨🌻✨

Did you know Van Gogh created more than 2,000 artworks? He painted more than 30 self-portraits, loved using bright colours and often used thick, expressive brushstrokes that gave his paintings so much texture and movement.

We also discovered that Van Gogh had a difficult and often sad life, and that made us curious. Who was he? What inspired him? Why did he paint the way he did? And how did his feelings and experiences find their way into his art?

At our studio, we want children to experience art as more than simply making a beautiful picture. We explore the artist, their story, their techniques and the ideas behind their work, then give our young artists the freedom to interpret what they’ve discovered in their own way.

Because learning about art is also learning to look closely, wonder, ask questions, experiment and think creatively.

And sometimes, the best way to discover just how much they’ve taken in is simply to ask them. 💛

Here’s what our young artists had to say about Van Gogh… 🎥✨
