These are the 2 artworks that I have in the Warwick Art Gallery pARTicipate miniatures competition/exhibition
There are do many great artworks there so Im not feeling too confident but wish my luck anyway. If you are in Warwick anytime in the next month you should definitely go check it out. There's even a people's choice section in the competition hint hint lol

My 2nd entry in the 2025 Warwick Art Gallery miniature competition/exhibition
"HEALING"
Encaustic Wax and Goldleaf on board

'Painting with Fire 🔥' is so rewarding (and a little scary with my hair lol)
Encaustic Painting is an ancient art form that uses a combination of beeswax and damar resin with coloured pigments, which is fused with fire that lasted thousands of years.
Im just developing my skills atm but I am excited to see where it leads.
I was aiming for more of an abstracted image then a landscape. I wasn't achieving what I was after so I fused (with 🔥) more wax to break the horizon line and added three round abalone shell pieces (which matched the asthetic colour wise) to try an emphasise the elongated S shaped composition

Entry no. 1 in Warwick Art Gallery 'pARTicipate' minis competition.
KLIMT'S GOLDEN DREAM
(not sure about the name now but it is what it is)
OIL PAINT on GOLD LEAF with MOSAIC OUTER on wooden cradled board

Im super happy with this piece though it caused me a lot of stress with loads of 'ugly stages'
I ended up deciding to push the Klimt theme after I found these little glass pieces in the right colour scheme. I attached the original framed painting to a small cradled board so that I could mosaic (a skill that I have recently learnt at At The Blue Cottage ) the pieces to.
Wish me luck. If you are local you should come into the gallery and look at all the wonderful entries. There's even a people's choice award (hint hint lol)

This is so BORINGLY HARD....

Im repurposing this lovely little rectangle frame (that I have hung onto for awhile), which is perfect for my 2nd entry into the Warwick Art Gallery pARTicipate mini competition.
I love working towards a goal but it can be super stressful as well.
This frame was originally black (which didn't suit the asthetic that Im going for), so I decided to gold leaf it... which turned into a DISASTER, because I was lazy and didn't prep it properly.
Sort of wishing that I had of just went to Rosecity Artz.n.Framing to do it.
So here I go again, lesson leaned...sigh.
Well it's something I can do sitting down whilst my foot heals. Wish me luck

This is part of a bigger painting that I am experimenting with. Im using 2 different types of gold leaf (in vertical strips) that react differently to the medium that I needed in order to paint with oils on top. I found that out in other experiments from before I got sick. (I'm improving everyday)
So I decided that I wanted to use this phenomenon in this painting to accentuate different golds.
This artwork is highly influenced by Gustav Klimt's painting 'The Kiss' who is one of my favourite artists.
So far I'm not a fan of how painting on the gold looks but I will persevere.

I'm still sick but pushing to get better.
I did a quick sketch over a wash for an idea I have for an encaustic piece I want to do. My lungs are too fragile atm to even consider being around the melted wax and smoke. But at least I can plan. Plus it makes me feel less useless. Hate being sick, such a waste of my vitality 🙂

Im still struggling with my breathing but, thank goodness, I'm out of hospital and today is the last day of this dose of steroids (prednisone).
Great drug for lung conditions but man does it pack on the weight.
I thought I needed to do something artistic. Feels like a hundred years since I have sketched. This is me drawing my hand from my bed.
My hands are shaky due to all the medications I am on. Especially the high dose ventolin. Im going to try to do a daily sketch to challenge myself. Use it or lose it they say. But I will be kind to myself if I am not physically up to it.
