ART TRAIL HAPPENINGS // The first day of CCART wrapped up at last night's Art Dinner at Warwick Art Gallery. It was a wonderful night - delicious food and lots of great conversation.

Today our artists' studios will be open from 9am to 4pm. Enjoy the drive to Freestone, Yangan, Swan Creek and Killarney but don't forget to visit the Warwick Potters Association on Horsman Road Warwick. Leah, Cathy and Penny will be demonstrating potters and glass making techniques and the club gallery will be open all day.

Warwick Art Gallery is buzzing with activity. Artists Jayden Clacy, Annette Raff, Judy Currie, Corina Graham and the Demented Artist Group are running classes, demonstrating and talking to visitors about their art practice.

CCART has been supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and Southern Downs Regional Council to support art and culture in regional Queensland.

PLAN YOUR ART ADVENTURE // Need help to decide on your meander through Condamine Country this weekend? Here is one suggested itinerary:
1. Start by travelling to Freestone Memorial Hall to meet arty friends Sue Keong and Debbie Deickmann
2. Drive along Jack Smith Gully Road, then turn right onto Warwick Yangan Road to Swan Creek School of Arts Hall where Helen McConville will be sharing her irresistible quirky metal character sculptures.
3. Back on Warwick Yangan Road in the direction you came from which will take you to Yangan to the stunning Yangan School of Arts hall. Inside will be paradise for admirers of fabric dying, textiles, natural fibre and recycled/repurposed clothing. Artist Catherine Elliot will be available to find out more about natural and indigo dying.
4. Keep driving east towards Emu Vale then continue onto Yangan Killarney Road to Tannymorel to find the latest large mural by our region's most accomplished outdoor artists Kerry and Malcolm Nicholsen.
5. Continue to Killarney to meet Jayne Deshon and other local artists at the Willow Gallery. Maybe lunch at the Killarney Pub?
6. Only visit the next studio if you are traveling in a 4x4! Paul Stumkat's studio is located off Condamine River Road about 8km from Killarney. This is a fantastic drive up the Cambanoora gorge but there are 5 water crossings to get over.
7. Drive back through Killarney and follow the signs to Warwick to the Warwick Potters Association Studio on Horsman Road where Laeh Kelly, Penny King and Cathy Holmes will share their love of clay.
8. Final stop, the Warwick Art Gallery, which has exhibitions by local artists Judy Currie, Corina Graham and the Demented Artists Group.

Safe travels and a warm welcome to all visitors.

INTRODUCING OUR ARTISTS // Jayde Clacy is a Warwick artist who began her artistic journey doing fashion and textile work finding creative opportunities out of repurposing garments and fabric finds. In 2019, she discovered watercolours and was prolific in her exploration of the medium. Her love of textiles found its way back into her oeuvre as she started incorporating stitching and embellishment into her watercolour abstracts. Recently she has also started incorporating acrylic and oil paint and gouache into her paintings. Her colours are reminiscent of the art nouveau era and her subject’s pure imagination.

Jayde will be one of the artists participating in our inaugural POP UP STUDIO event on Sunday 6 November in the garden outside Warwick Art Gallery. She will be demonstrating her latest passion which is creating tiny little paintings only 7cm x 7cm. You can join Jayde and create your own painting at 10am and 1pm for $50 which includes all materials and a matte + frame for your little painting. To book phone or text Jayde at 0439 135 971

INTRODUCING OUR ARTISTS // Helen McConville has always been interested in the creation of artworks. She is also passionate about nature and recycling and sustainable lifestyles. She has been able to combine these interests by creating artworks from discarded metal objects. Anything that is looking unloved, she likes to repurpose. She makes a variety of small native birds and reptiles as well as domesticated creatures including poultry.

Helen will be at the Swan Creek School of Arts Hall for CCART. Helen will be available to talk about her process and demonstrate her twisting and riveting techniques. Morning and afternoon tea will be served by the Swan Creek Hall Committee.

INTRODUCING OUR ARTISTS // Judy Currie began painting very recently after retiring from a demanding and sometimes stressful teaching career which she loved. Something had to fill the void so she chose watercolour painting even though she had no artistic experience whatsoever. It has been a therapy, a time to separate from her job and work, an avenue to find a new focus while maintaining the values and essence of the old ‘her’. It has grown into something she loves and something that she needs to do, something that encourages continual appreciation of the natural world.

Judy is having her first solo art exhibition at Warwick Art Gallery over the CCART weekend. The title of the exhibition "In pursuit of knowledge, excellence and service" was the motto of the school that was part of Judy's life for well over forty years. Exploring this hasn’t stopped with the cessation of a formal work life – it has been a way of living practised, absorbed and in continual refinement over time and consequently naturally and subtly influences her art.

You will be able to meet Judy at the inaugural POP UP STUDIO event on Sunday 6 November at the Gallery.
