Sharon DeSAilly is one of the hundreds of artists exhibiting this year.

Words like 'joyful', 'vibrant' and ‘tactile’ are used often to describe her contemporary impressionist paintings. Use of brilliant colours and bold texture are recognisable elements in her style.

Through her expressive works of art, DeSailly celebrates all living beauty bringing joy into the homes and lives of collectors across Australia and in several countries around the world. She exhibits in online galleries, on her own website and at art shows around the country (including Warrandyte - the Art Heart of Melbourne :)

We asked Sharon to share her inspiration. She told us
"To me, art is emotional before anything else, so my preference is to explore joyful themes. I genuinely believe art can enhance people’s life experience.

My intent with each artwork is to capture and connect to the emotion of the moment. Connecting people in shared experiences, to this place and time while creating something of beauty to share is always my primary goal"

Welcome to another artist who will be exhibiting at the Warrandyte Rotary Art Show: Faye De Pasquale.

We asked Faye to tell us about herself and her art practice:

"My art practice is diverse, driven by an enduring fascination with Outback Australia—its unique landscape, vivid colours, vast spaces, and intricate patterns. This fascination inspires my contemporary artistic expressions. I am prolific in my work, approaching various subjects with intense passion and dedication.

My repertoire includes still life, cityscapes, and landscapes, utilising a range of mediums such as acrylics, watercolours, inks, and gouache.

With a strong foundation in teaching, I have primarily focused on guiding senior painting students. Over the years, I've extended my teaching to adults, conducting private sessions and workshops for art groups and various institutions. These experiences have been immensely gratifying and enriching.

I have spent significant time in Mansfield, Victoria, and am now residing in Lower Plenty, Melbourne.

My work has been showcased in numerous group exhibitions and I have had several solo exhibitions in Eltham, Melbourne, and its Bayside areas, as well as in Mansfield and other parts of country Victoria.

My art has been featured in private collections nationally, interstate, and internationally"

You can see Faye's work at the Art Show, as well as NANY, Yarra St, until April 10

Another established and local artist whose work you can see at the Art Show. Margaret Christianson's work bridges sculpture and painting, exploring organic forms inspired by the natural world and expressing movement, texture, and resilience through hand-crafted processes.

She is a Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist with an established exhibition history across Australia and a long-standing practice working independently from her studio.

She works primarily with corten steel sculpture and contemporary acrylic painting, creating both freestanding and wall-based works.

Her inspiration is drawn from landscapes, flora and fauna, coastal environments, and the quiet stories found in nature’s forms and patterns.

This year's Art Show includes 3D Artwork. One such artist is Mrs fox Jewellery (AKA Lisa Male-Robertson). She is inspired by beautiful gemstones and metal. Mixing up colours and changing designs excites her. And she doesn't use plastic, resin or glass, only semi-precious gemstones and found or hand-made metal pieces.

A new addition to our Art Show. The art students of Warrandyte High have been invited to exhibit.

"Currently at WHS Year 11 Art Creative Practice students are familiarising themselves with the techniques and processes of oil painting.

As curious and motivated learners, they have been eager to explore key oil painting methods such as lean-to-fat application and layering techniques.

Beginning with simple subject matter has allowed them to build confidence, develop technical control, and deepen their understanding of the material.

Their strong engagement and focus as VCE students has been evident in the studio, as they prepare to embark on the development of their own personal artworks using this exciting medium.

This work and more from across the school will feature in the upcoming Rotary Art Show"

Thanks you for bringing us the next generation of local artists.

Here is another artist whose work will be exhibited at the Art Show.

Hi to Tony Mellen

"I am a self-proclaimed revelationist. My aim, with any piece, is not to adapt but rather to reveal; to release rather than invent, the forms, themes and messages inherent within the material with which I am working.

Over more than 30 years I have lived and worked in indigenous and developing cultures around the world, ranging from Asia to the Pacific to remote Australia, and the one simple linkage that I always find reinforced and strengthened by my work, is a holistic connection to what can be simplistically defined as “nature”. The bush around my home is much more than where I go to relax; it is where I go to regenerate and to find once more, amid the collision and confusion that is modern culture, my connection to self and to a greater whole; a connection to the earth.

I strongly believe that by bringing to life what would otherwise be forest, seaside or roadside debris, I can encourage those who view my work, to see; as I see; the beauty and the magnificence within the mundane. To appreciate the natural environment in a much more “thinking” manner, and ideally, find the passion to preserve that environment"

Tony works in bush wood, stone, shells and other found objects for his sculptures.
