As we continue to get to know the cast of Boeing Boeing - Warrandyte Theatre, we meet our final cast member, Michelle Reeves who plays the German Lufthansa Air-hostess Gretchen.

Many of you may have seen Michelle on the Warrandyte Theatre Company stage before, but we can guarantee you have never seen her like this character, you are in for a treat!

We ask her a few questions to get to know her a little better!

1. What is your favourite holiday destination Michelle and why?
A Cliche. The beach, with a book, a beach umbrella and a dance with the waves. Why? The warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves soothes my soul, and I guess the magnesium in the salt water helps too.

2. What is the best, worst or strangest food you have eaten while travelling?
Crickets on a pizza in Mexico. Was actually okay once you get past the antenna tickling the roof of your mouth and the legs and head crunching between your teeth.

3. If you could give your character one piece of advice, what would it be?
Watch out for those men who do not know the German soul.

4. What is your most useless, unexpected or best-hidden talent?
I have discovered that I am unexpectedly terrible at gardening.

5. What can audiences expect when they come aboard Boeing Boeing?
A stitch, sore cheeks and frivolous fun.

Excitement has been building in Warrandyte for Music at the Mechanics’ - Rod Paine and the Fulltime Lovers on Saturday 19th of September.

We ask the band a few questions in anticipation of their concert at the Warrandyte Mechanics Institute Hall.

1.How did the name of the band come about?

The title Fulltime Lovers is a tribute to Jimmie Vaughan of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. “Fulltime Lover” was one of their favourite songs. Rod Paine is, of course, the lead singer, harmonica player of our band.

We formed in 2004 and mateship, love of the blues and performing live has kept us going strong for the past 22 years.

2. What have been the high points of your musical careers?

Releasing our Studio Album – Dirt on Velvet, performing on the main stage at Broadbeach Blues Festival, winning the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society blues competition and representing Melbourne at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

3. Do you have any particular influences besides, perhaps the Fabulous Thunderbirds

Not really, the band has developed from a straight ahead Chicago blues band to a more rounded band that has absorbed a wide range of influences to come up with our own strong sound. In particular, the guitar skills of Co Tipping and the skills of Michael J Shannon on Hammond Organ have helped define our sound.

We play a lot of our own original with a strong roots influence as well as blues covers that we have “Loverised” with our own particular take on each song.

4. A bit of a left field question for you … Do you have an opinion on AI generated music - one that can be printed?!
At the moment you can hear and recognise AI generated performances but identifying them will only get harder as AI improves. I think sadly it will be used for song writing more and more.

Which, (and these are my own words,) if AI generated material becomes more prevalent then the options to get out and see live music up close and personal will become even more important.

So - folks … get down to the Mechanics’ Institute Hall in Warrandyte on September 19th at 7.30 to see one of Melbourne’s premier blues band in real live action - Nothing beats live music !
