W'dyte ROCKS *Welcome To W’DYTE ROCKS*

A little bit of creativity and nature play for all ages and abilities. Re-hide it. Let's keep Warrandyte beautiful.

Go hunting for painted rocks in beautiful Warrandyte, or paint some and hide for others to find and spread the joy. ****WANT TO PAINT A ROCK?****

*Use unpolished clean dry rocks. (No glass rocks, bricks etc)
*Acrylic paints & permanent markers work best but use any medium that can be sealed
*Rocks must be sealed prior to release so they hold up to the elements.

*Please make sure you write "W’dyt

e ROCKS" and the [f] facebook symbol on the back and seal it so people know what to do with their discovery and how to find us! Please do not tag anything else on the back off the rock.

*****WANT TO FIND A ROCK?*****
You can search this group, to see if anything has been hidden there recently - just use the search bar at the top of the group page. Be sure to check comments for updates before you head off to avoid potentially looking for a rock that has already been found and moved.

*****FOUND A ROCK?*****
Our artists (and us Admin/mods) love to see pics when creations are found, and love to see them move from spot-to-spot spreading joy, so if you find a rock please post a pic stating where it was found then:
1. You can do this at the same location or move it elsewhere. Be sure to let us know you've found it and repost the new location INCLUDING SUBURB on this page when hidden OR
2. Keep it and leave a comment on the 'hide' post advising it’s no longer there.

*****TELL YOUR FRIENDS!*****
Don't forget to share this group with anyone that you think might like to join in on fun. Please always be a tidy Aussie when you are out and about. Refer to Pinned Post for Page Rules and Guidelines.

We are going on a rock hunt!

During the Easter holidays Warrandyte Neighbourhood House will launch a treasure hunt encouraging kids to get creative and enjoy nature play whilst hunting for painted rocks. There are two ways to take part – you can hunt for rocks in Warrandyte or you can create your own painted rocks for others to find. This activity is a brilliant way to get kids away from screens. It is creative, active and social and most importantly it is exciting. It really is a fun-for-all-ages activity.

Getting Started Painting Rocks

Paints and brushes (such as Posca Pens or rock specific paints and brushes) can be purchased from Officeworks or an art supply shop and the rocks in bags from Aumman’s or Bunnings. People often also buy paint pens from Amazon Australia (i.e. Artistro brand, search rock painting) for outlining and doing finer work.

If your rocks are sandy or muddy, you should lightly wash/rinse them and make sure they are fully dry before painting. Then, paint or stencil and be creative to your hearts content.
Make sure they are very dry before you seal them. It is recommended that you spray them with at least two coats of sealant, then you are ready to photograph them, post them in this group, hide your rocks and allow others to enjoy.

Don’t forget to write W'dyte ROCKS and the Facebook symbol on the back!

Protect your art and craft work, photographs and special projects with Dulux Duramax® Acrylic Gloss and Duramax® Semi Gloss Clear Coat acrylic spray paints.
