Held annually at the West Gippsland Arts Centre during the September school holidays
2026 Festival dates: 18th - 27th September 2025

The West Gippsland Dance Festival has run successfully since its inception in 1991 attracting competitors from around Gippsland and the Metropolitan area. Since that time we have grown from being a small regional festival to a highly regarded, major amateur dance competition. Held annually at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, Warragul, the festival is conducted in September over 10 consecutive days

for approximately 12 hours per day. Our age groups range from Under 6 to 17 and over. Our sections cover Classical, Demi-Character, Modern/Jazz, Song & Dance, Tap, Neo-Classical, Lyrical, Contemporary, National, Broadway Jazz and Hip Hop. Dancers can compete in solos, duos / trios, troupes as well as championship sections. Due to our location and magnificent venue we receive entries from all over Victoria, but primarily the Melbourne metropolitan area, East, South and West Gippsland. We average 2,500 entries each year from approximately 30 dance schools. Warragul is situated in West Gippsland, an easy one hour drive from Melbourne. A number of attractive gardens and parks are located in Warragul, with the most scenic being Civic Park featuring a large lake, rotunda, picnic shelters, playground, walking tracks and a waterfall. Overlooking the park are the local government offices and the West Gippsland Arts Centre.

That means you can secure your spot in the audience ahead of time and ensures you don’t miss the incredible performances from our talented troupe dancers.

Seating is allocated on a general admission basis and if required, balcony seating will be opened to accommodate additional audience members.

💜 A NOTE FOR COMPETITORS
Competitors are welcome to watch from the auditorium when capacity allows. However, ticket-holding audience members will have priority. If seating becomes limited, competitors may be asked to vacate the auditorium so we can accommodate those who have purchased tickets.

✨Less Than ONE Month To Go! ✨

We are officially less than one month away from the WGDF 2026 and we are so excited!

With the festival getting closer, we have a few important updates and notices for all dancers, parents and teachers.

📲 CompAdminPro Update

CompAdminPro has had an update!
To access your portal, please log in and follow the verification link sent to your email.
If you are having trouble accessing your account, please check your email (including your junk/spam folder) for the verification message.

🪪 WWCC & DRESSING ROOM PASSES

The deadline for submitting WWCC details has now CLOSED.

If you have already supplied your details, thank you! These will be used to prepare the required dressing room passes. If you have not yet supplied us with your details, please ensure you bring your WWCC pass to the festival to be checked off on arrival.

📌 IMPORTANT: All relevant WWCC holders will need to bring their current WWCC with them to the festival. Your WWCC must be on your person during the festival and will be checked if required.

💙 Keeping Our Dancers Safe 💙

At the West Gippsland Dance Festival, child safety is incredibly important to us. We are committed to creating an environment where every dancer feels safe, supported and protected throughout our event.

Here’s what you need to know:
• All adults entering backstage or change room areas must hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC). This includes parents, helpers, teachers and all performers aged 18+.
• Only nominated teachers and helpers will be permitted backstage/in change room areas for Troupe Weekend.
• All WWCC details must be submitted prior to the festival by Friday 14 August 2026.

✅If you have already submitted your WWCC on CompAdminPro, thank you! 💙
❌If you haven't yet, please send your details through to [email protected] by Friday 14 August to ensure you receive your pass at the beginning of the festival.
