Recently, Alexis Winch-Buist, a professional photographer from Busselton, visited "Ravenscroft Textile Studio" in Waroona, to make a video documenting the studio, the farm environment and my practice as a textile artist. After working intensively over the last 3 months, creating my pieces for the Regional Arts Exhibition currently showing at the Alcoa Gallery, MANPAC, Mandurah, I am now preparing to return to my long-standing passion for fashion design through my involvement with the" Eco Fashion Australia" group
Our collective has recently received an invitation from the Government of Indonesia to travel to Sulawesi, where local weavers are creating traditional textiles specifically for us as designers to incorporate into new sustainable fashion pieces. This collaboration supports local Artisans in reviving and sustaining their ancient weaving traditions.
The finished garments will be offered for sale, with a percentage of proceeds returning directly to the weaving communities and help preserve their cultural heritage.
