This isn’t just a wall hanging; it’s a heartfelt labour of over 150 hours of pure hand-crafting passion.
Three weeks of unwavering dedication, weaving each thread with love and purpose. I poured my soul into this creation, driven by a desire to craft something truly meaningful.

🧵 Mindful Materials
Sustainability fuels my spirit — it’s the heartbeat behind every piece. This one is a vibrant mosaic tapestry of textures, carefully sourced with true intention:
Recycled materials given a new lease on life, whispering stories of the past.
Thrift shop wool and threads, rich with history and character.
Organic wool threads that bring a natural, comforting warmth.
Organic cotton macramé thread, soft yet structured, embodying gentle strength.
Organic jute twine, raw and earthy, a tribute to the untamed beauty of the bush.

Silent Echoes of The Western AustralianTypography Flow 🌊.

My new Tapestry creation is a large 2 x 3m piece.

The design shows layered, horizontal bands of woven material that gently ripple across the piece, drawing inspiration from the natural curves of landscapes and coastal terrains, creating harmonious visual flow.

It captures a topographical scene, with sections illustrating the varying elevations and geological layers found in Western Australia. The colour palette is composed of rich, earthy, and coastal tones—greens reminiscent of forests and moss, teals and sky blues conveying the openness of the sky and ocean, navy hues, sandy shades, and deep browns—all thoughtfully selected to reflect the region’s natural environment and native flora.

A variety of textures has been incorporated into the work, ranging from smooth, tightly woven areas to more substantial, braided sections.

This design also aims to display the natural transition zone between rugged bushland and coastline, highlighting elements as coastal tides and ocean currents, celebrating Western Australia’s unique environment.

This piece is designed to reflect the distinctive “Bush to Beach” aesthetic, blending land textures with the energy of water, respectful of Western Australia’s natural landscape.

Treasures from the Tide 🐚

Every shell you see has been ethically collected over a decade ago. It’s a lovely reminder of days spent by the water, and now it also acts as a bit of a time capsule.

A gentle note on conservation: While these shells were gathered with care at the time, our environment has since become even more precious.

In Western Australia today, regulations around selling art involving seashells have become more stringent to help safeguard our marine ecosystems.

We’re still able to enjoy collecting small handfuls for personal use, within the set bag limits for certain species. I feel fortunate to have created this piece 🐚♥️

A little trip down memory lane! 🌿 I created this large wall hanging 10 years ago, and looking back at it brings up so many wonderful memories.

This piece was a true labor of love that took a whole month to bring to life. Every single doily nestled inside those hoops was intricately crocheted by hand.

Staying true to the sustainable, earthy roots that inspire everything at The Bush Beach Boho Organic Collective, all the materials you see—from the flowing fabric ribbons to the beautifully weathered branch it hangs from—were carefully gathered, recycled, and handmade into something completely new.

It’s a beautiful reminder of how much magic can happen when you give old, forgotten materials a second life. ✨

The Sustainable Home: A Complete Guide to the Power of Vinegar ♥️♻️🌏

Vinegar is a versatile and environmentally friendly addition to a sustainable home. Its biodegradable, non-toxic nature combined with a high acetic acid content makes it an effective tool for both cleaning and food preservation. If you are interested in gradually replacing harsher chemical products, a litre of distilled white vinegar is an excellent and practical choice.

When children or vulnerable individuals are present, maintaining a home that is both biologically clean and free from the fumes of bleach or synthetic aerosols is essential for respiratory health. Vinegar works wonderfully here—especially when combined with other gentle ingredients like baking soda or hydrogen peroxide.

Mastering the Household Clean
Vinegar excels at tackling grease, soap scum, and odors without synthetic fragrances.

🥗In the Kitchen

All-Purpose Surface Spray: Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle for countertops and stovetops.

Microwave Steam Clean: Microwave a bowl of water and vinegar for 5 minutes. The steam softens dried food for an easy wipe-down.

Fridge Deodoriser: Wipe shelves with a vinegar solution to neutralise odours and help prevent mould growth.

Coffee & Tea Descaler: Run a 50/50 water and vinegar cycle through your machine to remove mineral build-up.

👕In the Laundry Area

Vinegar is a natural alternative to traditional softeners, which can affect machine sensors and skin sensitivity.

Natural Fabric Softener: Add 1/2 cup during the rinse cycle to remove detergent residue. The scent disappears as it dries!

Brightening Fabrics: The acetic acid refreshes dulling residues, making colours more vibrant and whites crisper.

Mildew Control: Run forgotten, sour-smelling loads with a cup of vinegar to eliminate odors.

🛁In the Bathroom

Because bathrooms are often small and poorly ventilated, avoiding strong chemical fumes is wise.

Daily Shower Spray: Mix equal parts vinegar and water with a few drops of eucalyptus or tea tree oil to prevent soap scum.

🚿Showerhead Cleaning: Wrap a bag of vinegar around the fixture overnight to dissolve mineral deposits.

The Oven Paste: For a non-toxic oven clean, mix 1½ cups baking soda, ¼ cup vinegar, and dish soap. Apply overnight, then spray with pure vinegar the next morning to "fizz" the grease away.

🌿 The All-Purpose Miracle Spray
Looking for a simple recipe to replace chemical cleaners? This gentle yet effective spray is perfect for high-touch areas like doorknobs and high chairs.

Ingredients:
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 cup water (distilled or boiled then cooled)
1 teaspoon liquid dish soap
10–15 drops essential oils (Tea tree for antifungal, lemon for grease)

Instructions:
Combine in a 500ml spray bottle, adding soap carefully to prevent foaming. Note: Stick with clear distilled white vinegar; apple cider vinegar contains natural sugars that can encourage microbial growth if stored too long.

The "Dwell Time" Rule: Spray until surfaces are wet and leave for 5–10 minutes to give the vinegar time to act on germs before wiping with a clean microfiber cloth.

🥒 Preserving the Harvest & Cooking

Vinegar is a cornerstone of an organic kitchen. Its acidity is valued for preserving food and balancing complex flavours.
Pickling and Preserving
Vinegar pickling lowers the pH, making environments inhospitable for bacteria.

Fast Refrigerator Pickles: Simmer equal parts vinegar and water with sea salt and sugar. Pour over sliced veg (cucumbers, carrots, or beetroot) and keep in the fridge for up to three weeks.

WA Seasonal Tip: As cooler weather approaches in Western Australia, it’s the perfect time to preserve summer’s bounty before the winter rains. Try Pickled Sunflower Buds (harvested green before they open) for a treat reminiscent of artichokes!

Health Boost: Add fresh turmeric, ginger, and garlic to your brine for powerful anti-inflammatory benefits.

🍳In the Pan
Deglazing: Use a splash of balsamic or red wine vinegar to lift browned bits from a pan for a quick sauce.

Poached Eggs: A teaspoon of vinegar in simmering water helps whites set neatly.

Brightening Dishes: A dash of apple cider vinegar can brighten heavy lentil soups or beef stews.

⚠️ Safety First

While powerful, vinegar should be used thoughtfully:

Avoid Stone: Never use vinegar on granite, marble, or limestone, as the acid causes etching.

Hardwood Floors: Refrain from regular use on finished wood to protect the coating.

For a toddler-safe floor cleaner on sealed surfaces, mix 1 part vinegar to 4 parts warm water with a drop of plant-based dish soap.

Immune Concerns: Vinegar is not a steriliser. For high-risk disinfection, follow a vinegar wipe with a 3% hydrogen peroxide spray (but never mix them in the same bottle, as this creates irritating peracetic acid).

These small positive changes in your home can help your savings and the environment and less money to big cooperations 👌

🌻 Sunflowers: More Than Just a Pretty Face! 🌻

Did you know that these golden giants are actually one of the hardest-working plants in the garden? I’ve been growing and producing sunflowers for 3 years now, and I’m still blown away by how much they give back.

They aren't just a summer staple—they are a year-round powerhouse for your health, your soil, and our feathered friends.

🧱 1. Soil Superheroes (Phytoremediation)
Sunflowers are famous for being "hyperaccumulators." Their deep roots act like a vacuum, pulling heavy metals and toxins out of the ground. They literally clean the earth as they grow! Plus, those deep taproots help break up compacted soil, improving drainage for whatever you plant next.

🐦 2. A Feast for the Birds
Once the flowering head matures, it becomes a natural bird feeder. By leaving the spent heads in your garden, you’re providing a high-protein, high-fat snack that local birds need to thrive. It’s a beautiful way to support your local ecosystem.

🧘 3. Surprising Health Benefits
Almost the entire plant has medicinal or nutritional value and here's why -

Seeds: Packed with Vitamin E, selenium, and healthy fats that support heart health and skin.

Petals: Can be brewed into a tea that is traditionally used to help reduce fevers and soothe sore throats.

Leaves: Often used in herbal infusions for their astringent and diuretic properties.

Roots: Some varieties have roots that can be boiled into a tea to help with respiratory issues or applied topically for aches.

🇦🇺 The "All-Season"
There is a common misconception that sunflowers only grow in summer. I’m here to tell you—that’s a myth! EVERY sunflower will grow all year round here in Australia!

My sunflowers (seen in the photos!) Are incredibly hardy. I’ve been able to grow these beauties all year round. They are perfectly adapted to our climate and bring a burst of sunshine to the garden even in the cooler months.

🌱 Grab Your Seeds!
Want to start your own sunflower forest? I’m now selling Mixed Variety Seed Packets so you can get a beautiful blend of heights and colors (including those tough-as-nails orange ones!).

Whether you want to detox your soil, feed the birds, or harvest your own health-boosting tea, these are the perfect place to start.

🌱 Wiggle Your Way to a Greener Garden! 🌱

Thinking about starting your own worm farm? It's easier than you think and so incredibly beneficial!

Composting your organic waste with worms isn't just about reducing landfill - it's about creating nature's black gold! These little squigglers break down kitchen scraps into nutrient-dense castings (aka worm p**p!, also known as worm tea!)that your plants crave.

Why Worm Tea is a Game-Changer:

Boosts Plant Growth: Rich in plant-available nutrients and beneficial microbes, worm tea gives vegetables, flowers, even your lawn, a powerful, organic boost! Think bigger, healthier plants and more abundant yields.

Improves Soil Health: This liquid gold inoculates your soil with microbial life, enhancing soil structure, drainage, and water retention. Happy worms mean happy soil, and happy soil means thriving plants!

Strengthens Plant Immunity: Worm tea helps plants build natural defenses against pests and diseases. It's like a vitamin shot for your green friends!

Sustainable & Organic: No harsh chemicals here! Just pure, natural goodness that's kind to the environment.

Local & Loveable: Supporting a local worm farmer (like me! 😉) means you're getting super fresh, potent worm tea, not something sitting on a shelf for months.

I've been passionate about worm farming for nearly 3 years now, producing and sharing this amazing worm tea with my community. It's been incredible to see the results in my own garden and hear about the successes of my customers! From towering tomato plants to vibrant roses and a lush, green lawn, worm tea truly works wonders!

🪱Ready to Wiggle into Worm Farming? 🪱

If you're curious but don't know where to start, drop a comment! I'd be happy to create a step-by-step video on how to set up your very own thriving worm farm. It's simpler than think 🤗

🥰 I’ve been looking forward to this moment and waiting for almost a year and a half, these beautiful Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos (Zanda latirostris), also known as the Short-billed Black Cockatoo, visiting my bird bath.

The freshly cleaned bird bath with new rainwater seems to have invited them along ♥️

As someone living in Western Australia, I feel quite privileged to have them drop by. These birds are Endangered and are only typically found naturally in the south-west of WA. Lucky me 💕

Navigating the WA Cost of Living Crisis: Part 2💧

Following on from my last post, I wanted to hone in on a few water-saving hacks that have seriously helped me maximize my usage. If you’re looking to be a little savvy and shave some dollars off your next bill, have a read!

🚿 The Shower Bucket Trick

Before you hop in (and while the water is warming up), place a bucket in the shower. I use one for every shower except for my weekly hair wash day. It’s amazing how much "grey water" you can save from going down the drain and give to your thirsty garden instead.

🛁 Bath Time = Lawn Time

If you have little ones who have baths, don't pull the plug! As long as you’re using eco-friendly soaps, that water is liquid gold for your lawn. A standard bath can hold 20+ litres—using that every night adds up to a massive saving over a month.

👕The Washing Machine Diverter

This one is a game-changer. I’ve attached a 12-metre washing machine drain pipe (it cost about $70 from the big green warehouse) that runs directly from the laundry to my back lawn.

* The Win: You wash your clothes with eco-friendly sheets/powder, and your grass gets a deep soak for free.

* The Result: A green lawn without the "sprinkler guilt."

🍽️ The Sink Saver

Find a large Tupperware container or basin that fits inside your sink. Instead of letting the rinse water disappear, catch it! Once the dishes are done, take that container straight out to your pot plants or lawn.

✨️ Pro-Tip: Always ensure your detergents and soaps are biodegradable and "grey-water safe" to keep your soil and plants healthy!

Being resourceful doesn't just help the planet; it keeps more money in your pocket where it belongs. 🇦🇺💰

Have you tried any of these? Or do you have another secret water-saving tip?

Navigating the WA Cost-of-Living Crisis.

Let’s be real—the "cost of living" isn't just a headline anymore. Between the petrol pump and the checkout, we’re all feeling the squeeze. But here’s the thing: in Western Australia, being environmentally conscious and being financially savvy are actually the same thing.

I’ve put together a quick guide on how to work with our unique climate to keep more money in your pocket. Whether you’re renting or own your place, these small pivots to your daily routine can seriously take the sting out of your Synergy and Water Corp bills.

Energy:🔌

The Golden Window (9 am – 3 pm): This is Super Off-Peak. This is your green light for high-load appliances like dishwashers and washing machines. You're essentially tapping into the grid when solar generation is at its peak.

The Peak Crunch (3 pm – 9 pm): This is when power is at its most expensive. If you can avoid the dryer or heavy machinery here, your bank account will thank you.

The Natural Advantage: ☀️

We live in one of the sunniest places on earth. Mechanical dryers are often a luxury we don't need—harnessing the WA wind and sun on a clothesline is the ultimate zero-cost hack.

The "Vampire Power "Sleep mode": 🧛‍♂️🧛‍♀️🦇

Is just a polite way of saying your appliances are slowly draining your wallet while you sleep. Many power boards still draw a "phantom load" even when the switch is off. Isolate them at the wall. It takes ten seconds to plug the kettle and the Tv back in, at the end of the day all you really need on is the fridge/ freezer. The cameras and etc, depending on each individuals circumstances and living arrangements, the cumulative savings are massive.

Check Your Globes: 💡

Swapping an old 60W bulb for a 6W Ultra-Efficient LED cuts your lighting costs by 90%. It’s a tiny investment with an immediate ROI.

Water Smarter, Not Harder: 💧

Watering in the 2 pm sun is essentially paying for steam. It evaporates before it ever hits the roots.

Respect the Roster:
Stick to your assigned days to avoid a $100 fine, and remember the Winter Sprinkler Ban (June 1 – Aug 31) is non-negotiable for our groundwater.

The Night Shift:
Set your retic for late evening (around 10 pm) or pre-dawn. This gives the water time to actually pe*****te the soil while the ground is cool.

The Rental Audit:
If you’ve just moved, check your controller immediately. Don't get stuck with a 26-minute "default" cycle.
7–9 minutes is usually the sweet spot for WA soil.

The 4-Minute Shower:

Keep it to the length of one song.

Pro-Tip: Use lukewarm water for your hair. It seals the cuticles, stops the frizz, and uses a fraction of the energy required for a steaming hot soak.

🌍 Frugality in Sustainability doesn't always require a roof full of solar panels. Real impact comes from being a conscious manager of the resources we have. When we cut back, we aren't just saving cents; we’re reducing the load on our state's grid and water reserves.

Keep in the loop or follow for Part 2, where I’ll be going in-depth with sharing some "out-of-the-box" frugal hacks for those ready to get a bit more creative with their savings such as creative water saving tips, food saving tips, and some secret waste free tips you'll be super happy to know 😀

💕 Hope these little tips brought a bit of sunshine your way! More good vibes and happiness are headed your way soon! 💕
