the cone is starting to tip for this bisque firing. i can get nice and close to the b**g hole in a bisque because it’s 250 degrees cooler than a glaze firing and not spurting out fire from a reduction atmosphere! 🔥 🔥
this kilns atmosphere is currently at around 1025 degrees, but the ‘heat work’ is less. heat work is what temperature the pottery is at, and that’s what I can read from the cones.

ceramics is seriously hardcore. and scary at times. trying to work with the fire spirit, all praise to the kiln gods 🥷🏿

some textures on some platters.

I made some white platters too in the same design cos I have some mystery marketplace glaze left and will use it on these. I think it would be a fairly simple glaze to emulate when it does run out.. it’s a beautiful cobalt blue clear glaze that settles in the grooves and gives life to them. i’m coming up to a big tableware firing now with a few of my biggest works yet.. can’t wait to see the results!

new studio, new second hand kiln, new year! i’be just moved house and am so excited to finally have a space to create again. the gas kiln will be set up soon and the creations will be pumping 🌸

⁣hello dear friends! i’ve been making in my b**galow for many months now and it is slowly filling with greenware because i am on the hunt for a atudio. ⠀

if you have a space in the Yarra Ranges please let me know. i’m looking for a studio, shed or b**galow with plenty of natural light and has, or is close to a water source. minimum lease 1.5-2 years. thank you! ⠀

i've been a bit quiet on the instagram front lately, and have been using my time this year so far to focus on some other things in life. i'm looking for a new ceramics studio, and creating what I can in my bedroom, which is full to the brim of greenware! i've been experimenting with pinch pots thrown on the hand wheel and carving. here is a kurinuki chawan (carved teabowl) ✨🐠✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

it's a rainy day inside so far so i've been making some bisque moulds for press objects - these shells will become porcelain jewellery prototypes for some pendants and earrings. i'm thinking gold/platinum lustre, silk, pearls and precious stones! 🌫⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

it's an interesting and funny journey, learning along this pottery route.. i thought it would be easy developing or finding a recipe for a simple matte white glaze. a glaze that brought out the properties in an iron-rich clay body, but was stable enough to work with a whole range of clays.. but it isn't easy at all! after testing many recipes to no avail i've finally been gifted a wonderful recipe by the beautiful Lucy ⠀

this glaze has it's idiosyncrasies, but it is stunning 🐩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
