Esteem Dance Company is a proudly family-owned, mother-and-daughter dance studio that has been inspiring confidence through dance since 2008. Founded by Carrie-Anne and now proudly led alongside her daughter Brittany, Esteem has grown into a welcoming community where students of all ages and abilities are encouraged to learn, grow and thrive. We believe dance is about so much more than technique,

it's about building confidence, creating lifelong friendships and giving every student a place where they feel supported, valued and celebrated. Whether you're stepping into the studio for the very first time or continuing your dance journey, you'll be welcomed like family.

THEN & NOW — 6th Series 🥹

Seventeen years ago, a quiet little three-year-old named Savannah Medrano walked through our doors. Little did we know she was the beginning of a relationship between our families that would span almost two decades.

Then came Jacinta — and quiet she was NOT! 😂 Followed by Amber, an absolute whizz in her tap shoes, Lexi, our little pocket rocket who wanted to do EVERYTHING, and finally Ivy, with that infectious smile that still lights up the stage.

Five beautiful girls. Five completely different personalities. Seventeen years of classes, costumes, concerts, achievements, laughter and memories. ❤️

But the Medrano connection has always been about so much more than dancing.

Ale has helped with studio floors, building advice and countless jobs over the years, while Donna has been backstage at every single concert her girls have performed in- always helping, always smiling and always looking out for the children.

And then there’s one little tradition that has touched me more than they probably realise…

For 17 years, without ever being asked, the Medrano family has donated towards our concert trophies. ❤️

Every year, that little envelope simply appears:

“Medrano — Trophy Sponsorship ❤️”

Today, Savannah, Jacinta and Amber have finished their dancing journeys, while Lexi and Ivy continue theirs. But we haven’t lost the older girls- they still come back to support their younger sisters, and getting to see all five Medrano girls together again is incredibly special.

To Donna, Ale and the whole Medrano family- thank you for 17 years of loyalty, generosity, laughter, volunteering, backstage help, trophy envelopes, soccer sidelines, studio floors, dancing and friendship.

We are so incredibly lucky to have you as part of the Esteem family ❤️

THEN & NOW — 5th Series 🥹

From tiny dancers who barely crossed paths… to high school besties, dance partners and now teaching side by side. 🥹💛

Maya’s Esteem journey began at just three years old, dancing with her little Kindy friends, Rachel and Ruby. Her first concert saw her take to the stage as the cutest little Smurfette and from those early days, Maya absolutely loved to perform.

Two years later, Alivia arrived at Esteem with her bestie Tia.

Despite both growing up at Esteem, the girls lived in different suburbs, attended different primary schools and, for those first few years, their paths barely crossed!

Both quickly became little performers to watch, collecting plenty of concert accolades along the way.

There was even a time when we weren’t sure Alivia’s dance journey was going to continue! 😂 She REALLY did not like Tap, and her mum Mel still remembers getting her to the studio practically kicking and screaming! Thankfully, that little wobble didn’t last. 😂

Eventually, Maya and Alivia began taking all their classes together and something pretty special happened. 💛

The girls started high school together and, somewhere between school, social gatherings, performances, rehearsals and multiple days a week at the studio, they became completely inseparable.

Today, these two aren’t just beautiful dancers and best friends, they have grown into incredible young role models.

Their dedication, loyalty and team spirit have made them wonderful mentors to our younger students, who absolutely ADORE them.

So when we announced that Maya and Alivia would be teaching a Junior Acrobatics class together this year, the response said it all…

The class filled almost immediately! 😂🤸‍♀️

From meeting through dance, to growing up together, becoming best friends and now stepping into the studio as teachers themselves this is exactly what our Then & Now series is all about.

Sometimes children come to dance to learn the steps.

And somewhere along the way, they find their people, their confidence, their community and a place to grow up. 💛✨

And thankfully for Alivia… she survived Tap. 😂

Maya & Alivia.. our little dancers then, our beautiful mentors now. 🥹💛

THEN & NOW — 4th Series 🥹

Almost 14 years ago, two bubbly two-year-old twins walked into our Toddler Dance program… and they’ve been part of the Esteem family ever since.

Meet Tayla and Sienna. 💗

Back then, their absolute favourites were Rock-A-Bye Your Bear and any song that involved LOTS of jumping. 😂 They just loved to jump… and jump and jump! Almost 14 years later, Hip Hop is the genre they’ve stayed with consistently, so perhaps all that toddler jumping was an early clue after all.

Their mum was and still is a wonderful full-time school teacher, so their wonderful Grandmothers would bring them to dancing each week. Sometimes one Nana, sometimes the other, sometimes both, but rain, hail or shine, Tayla and Sienna were there, smiling, dancing and jumping away.

Over the years there have been so many memories school fetes, community performances, countless moments on stage and even birthday celebrations at Esteem. I still remember making VIP lanyards for all their little friends and literally rolling out a RED CARPET for one of their parties so they could arrive like superstars. ⭐️

And somehow those tiny toddlers are now teenagers and about to turn Sweet 16 . 💕 Looking at these photos side by side, though, one thing hasn’t changed...

Those smiles. 🥹

They’re older, taller and a whole lot more grown up, but those gorgeous smiles are exactly the same.

14 years of dancing and endless dancing memories. 💕
From Rock-A-Bye Your Bear and jump, jump, jumping, to the beautiful teenage dancers they are today, loving Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary.

And with their 16th birthday coming up, perhaps it’s time for another Esteem Dance Party...

Although I’m not entirely sure I’m cool enough to host their Sweet 16. 😂
I can still make a killer VIP lanyard and party play list, girls! 😉💗

Some things change. Some things don’t. And thankfully, those beautiful smiles haven’t changed one bit.
