Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Ecumenical Choir

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Ecumenical Choir Now in its sixth year the Choir has raised over $24,000 towards the provision of facilities for the welfare of homeless people in our community.

To present an annual ecumenical performance of Handel's Oratorio - Messiah in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai area at Christmas, bringing together the community in celebration and song. An ecumenical combined massed choir performance of the best-loved highlights of Handel’s Messiah presented in Hornsby’s Cathedral Church, Our Lady of the Rosary. We are honoured that our voices have contributed to the upgr

ade of the shower in the Brooklyn Community & Health Centre for homeless clients and the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter. Who is this Choir? We are Choristers with a love of singing Handel’s Messiah. We come from Hornsby’s surrounding areas and beyond for five rehearsals and one performance every year. Performance details:
Time & Date: Thursday December 11 at 8pm

Venue: Hornsby Cathedral, Our Lady of the Rosary, 23 Yardley Avenue, Waitara

Musical Director, Phillip Linquist, organist Heather Boyd and the choir will be joined by an ensemble of musicians and young professional soloists singing favourite arias.

For the past six weeks, these talented choristers have given their time and voices to rehearse Handel’s Messiah for two special reasons:
1. To perform this beautiful Christmas work in a church during the festive season.
2. To support homeless women in our community — with all proceeds going directly to Beecroft House.
Women over 55 are the fastest-growing group of people facing homelessness, and your attendance will help make a meaningful difference.

Celebrate the season with the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Ecumenical Choir as they perform beloved highlights from Handel’s Oratorio - Messiah in the beautiful Holy Name Church Wahroonga.

Under the direction of Phillip Linquist, with organist Heather Boyd, the choir of over 100 voices will be joined by an ensemble of musicians and rising young soloists performing your favourite arias.
