A belated welcome to 2026.
Last year, our beloved Mouse, Prince, and Kadar passed.
Each with unexpected ailments.
Cats are such good actors when it comes to not showing pain.
Prince was short of his 20th birthday.
I nursed all through their last days, but in the end, with their suffering over and the vets unable to assist any further, they all died loved and comforted.
One lesson I learnt is never try CPR on a cat. My daughter performed CPR twice under the guidance of a nurse on the phone.
It was cruel and made the end more traumatic for us all, but especially Kadar.
For Mouse, she was rushed to the vets in the early hours twice as she needed urgent transfusions. This prolonged her for a few hours, but to no avail.
Both these lessons taught us that no matter how much we love our pets, sometimes it is better not to try to prolong their fate.
Please, is prolonging the inevitable more for you than for the animals?
