Such a surreal and wonderful experience stepping into NSW Parliament House last night for the Artful Art Prize 2026 celebration! Artful Art Prize 🏛️✨

Seeing my work, Prosopagnosia II, hanging on the wall alongside so many incredible pieces by fellow artists was a true highlight.

It was also such a joy to experience the Reflections of Reality exhibition in person and to connect with others—huge congratulations to the artist who took home the People's Choice award!

Thank you so much to our parliamentary host, the Hon Ben Franklin MLC, and to Achieve Australia and Accessible Arts for creating such a welcoming, inclusive national platform that celebrates our diverse stories.

If you are in Sydney, the exhibition is on display at NSW Parliament House until September 24—definitely go check it out!

🎓 Official: Masters of Therapeutic Arts Practice with a Specialisation in Creative Arts Therapy! ✨

In 2023, I made a decision that completely changed my life's trajectory. Burnt out from teaching, I finally let myself stop pushing it aside and pursue a career shift I’d been dreaming about for years. Stepping into the unknown was scary, but it was easily the best leap of faith I’ve ever taken.

Graduating from marks both an end and a beautiful beginning.

I owe so much gratitude to:
💛 My peers & the MIECAT faculty — for your wisdom, warmth, and for holding space through every creative exploration.
💛 My family & partner — for being my absolute rocks, encouraging me, and believing in me through every scary, exciting step of this transition.

Here’s to honouring the process, trusting the pivot, and stepping fully into this next chapter! 🎨🌿

Deeply honoured to share that my collagraph print Prosopagnosia II has been awarded Highly Commended in the 2026 and will be exhibited at NSW Parliament House this September! 🎉

This work is a self-portrait exploring my experience of prosopagnosia; a neurological condition that makes it very difficult to recognise faces. As an Autistic woman, prosopagnosia adds another layer to an already complex relationship with social connection and belonging. In the print, features fragment, eyes float unmoored, and a face becomes an unfamiliar landscape.

The Artful 2026 theme, Reflections of Reality, asked us to view the world through different eyes. This work invites viewers into a reality where identity and connection are experienced differently — through gesture, context, feeling — prompting reflection on what we truly see when we look at one another.

I'm so grateful this work found resonance with the judges, and I'm looking forward to seeing it on the walls of NSW Parliament House.

🧵 Tearing, folding, stitching, and finding new life for the pieces left behind.

✨ Giving unused Was/Wasn’t/Won’t Be pieces space to become something new.

📖 Taking a form I hadn't originally imagined, and I'm letting it lead the way.

📢 Update: new dates! This has moved to the spring school holidays 2026 — the dates shown in this post have changed. Full details and register your interest at the link.

📣 Big news: In the Making is thrilled to announce The Underground Publishing Project — a free, four-week zine-making program for young people in Wagga Wagga, happening thanks to the generous support of FishingforKyan 🎉

I'm so grateful Fishing for Kyan chose to back this program. Their funding is what makes it possible to offer this completely free to young people across our community, and I can't wait to see what everyone creates. 🖤

Here's what it's all about 👇 Over four relaxed afternoons, you'll make your own handmade zine — a booklet packed with your ideas, art and words — team up with other young people from around Wagga, and create something real that ends up in people's hands right across town. No experience needed, no judgment, just your voice on paper and out in the world.

✏️ Free — ages 15–17 in Wagga Wagga
📅 Spring school holidays 2026
🕥 3:30–5:30 pm
📍 Wagga City Library

It was a treat to hear Sue Wood discuss her current solo show, ‘Here and over there’ at The Ambo Gallery yesterday.

Listening to Sue speak in front of her incredible mixed-media landscapes was incredibly grounding. Her notes on her creative process really struck a chord with me, especially when she spoke about the true purpose of mark-making:
“The act of drawing for me is not about making a beautiful drawing; it’s about looking.” 🌟

She reminded us that we experience nature with all our senses, not just a single lens. Her semi-abstract landscapes aren’t static, literal copies of a map; they are deeply felt, mixed-media translations of what it feels like to genuinely inhabit a place.

If you haven't caught it yet, please go treat your senses!

The unglamorous reality of an exhibition pack-down. 🧺📦

The Ambo Gallery walls are empty, and the workshop materials have made their way back to my studio.

There is a very specific kind of creative comedown that happens when the show closes. You go from weeks of high-energy gallery sitting, running public programs, and talking about your practice to suddenly standing in a quiet room, staring at a desk that has completely disappeared under boxes and bags.

No matter how organised you try to be when packing up the gallery floor, it always ends up looking exactly like this when you drop it at home.

Before I can even think about a blank canvas or a new project, my week will be spent sorting through this table. It’s time to file the leftover room sheets, put the carving tools back and reclaim my work table.

A final, massive thank you to everyone who supported me over the last month, shared a conversation, or supported Was / Wasn’t / Won’t Be from afar..

Now, time to go find the surface of my table. ☕🧹

Still feeling the energy from yesterday's workshop. 🖤✨

We took over the gallery floor yesterday for our DIY Stamping session, and the atmosphere in the room was incredibly special.

There is something beautiful about a group of people sitting down together, sharing a workspace, bouncing ideas off one another, and just enjoying the process of making with their hands.

To everyone who carved a block and shared their afternoon with me—thank you. Seeing the tables filled with ink, conversation, and finished prints was the perfect way to spend the final weekend of the show.

Today is the final day of Was / Wasn’t / Won’t Be—Thanks to everyone who popped in to see the show, or followed along online; your support over the last month has meant the world. ❤

The final countdown. ⏳🏛️

This coming weekend is your absolute last chance to see Was / Wasn’t / Won’t Be in person before the show closes this Sunday, July 5.

If you’ve been meaning to check out the exhibition in person, this is the final weekend to drop in.

We are also wrapping things up with our public program this Saturday, July 4. I am hosting the DIY Stamping workshop right here inside the gallery space from 11 am to 3 pm. It’s going to be a really relaxing afternoon to play with soft-carve lino and print your own designs.

Places are strictly limited to keep the group small and supportive, so if you've been on the fence about joining us, don't miss out.

📆 Final Weekend Hours:
🕒 Saturday, 4 July: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (Workshop running 11am–3pm)
🕒 Sunday, 5 July: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (Final day!)
📍 Where: The Ambo Gallery, Wagga Wagga

Thank you so much to everyone who has dropped in over the last few weeks to view the work and chat. Hope to see a few more of you for a final look this weekend!

👉 If you want to explore the concepts further, don't forget to check out the details for the DIY Stamping workshop on July 4. Seats are strictly capped at 8, and you can secure your spot via this link: https://www.teganbailey.com/was-wasnt-wont-be-exhibition

28/06/2026

Another workspace has officially been snapped up for next Saturday's DIY Stamping & Lino Carving Workshop (July 4)!

If you've been craving a few hours to slow down and work with your hands, this is your invitation. No printmaking experience is needed at all; this is a relaxing, creative circuit breaker right on the gallery floor.

All core materials are ready and waiting for you. We are keeping the table capped at 8 people to keep it quiet and supportive.

Only 3 spots left as of today. Grab a friend or come on your own to unwind!
