Our first full day in Paris… it was rainy and windy and wet but always amazing! We made it to a marché aux puces (flea market) which was pretty small due to the weather, headed to Notre Dame and got to sit and watch a Mass which was all the feels especially with the organ music. Then to lunch (a grand margarita Lindy which was very different but yummy!!!). Then Shakespeare and Company, a quick visit to Sennelier (the oldest art supply store in Paris) then home to our little apartment because it was blowing a gale! Great first day 🇫🇷

I can’t believe I actually got my new collection finished just in time to go overseas… because apparently I’m the kind of person who books a big international holiday six weeks before the Brisbane Affordable Art Fair. Sensible planning? Never heard of her.

The last few weeks have basically been powered by coffee, mild panic, and the constant thought of “just one more painting.” But somehow the collection is done, the paint is dry (actually it’s not but Lindy and Georgia will look after them while they dry), and the suitcase is about to come out.

So yes… the timing might be slightly chaotic, but the upside is I now get to head off with a full collection ready for Brisbane and a head full of new inspiration.

Now the big question is:
Will I relax on holiday… or start thinking about the next series halfway through Paris? 😅

Circular Quay will always feel a little bit magic to me.

I can still remember stepping off the train here as a little girl, holding Mum’s hand, knowing we were off on an adventure — maybe a ferry ride, maybe just a day wandering the harbour, but always something special. The salty air, the hum of the city, that first glimpse of the bridge stretching across the sky. It felt big and exciting and full of possibility.

And then… that sleepy, happy train ride home. Tired feet. Wind-tangled hair. A full heart after a beautiful day.

This painting is all of that for me. The memories layered in with the steel of the bridge, the rush of the station, the colour and movement of Circular Quay. It’s not just a place — it’s the feeling of being young and knowing the day holds something wonderful.

Funny how a railway platform can hold so many stories.

‘A Walk Home After the Markets’ might be SOLD… but this one was never just about owning it. It was always about the feeling.

That end-of-day glow. The rainbow wrapping itself around an old brick building like a hug. The garden spilling over. The foxes claiming their little corner of the world. It’s that quiet moment when the bustle fades and everything softens.

It’s about colour after conversation. Stillness after noise. The gentle wander home with full hands and a full heart.

I think that’s why this one connected so deeply — it carries nostalgia, warmth and just a touch of wild magic. The kind you don’t forget.

So yes, it headed off to its new home… but the feeling? That lingers.

This one has been quietly sitting in my heart for a little while

I couldn’t share it before… because it was a precious gift for the bride and groom.

Painting this felt incredibly special. Not just because it’s a portrait, but because it holds a moment that will never happen in exactly the same way again. The way she leans into him. The strength and calm in his stance. That soft, unspoken connection between them.

I slowed right down with this one. Faces matter. Energy matters. I wanted to honour their expressions, their posture, their love — and then let the background glow and move around them in bold colour. Pinks, citrus yellows, electric flashes of light across a golden field. Because love isn’t quiet. It radiates.

There’s something sacred about being trusted to create a wedding gift like this. To capture a memory that belongs so deeply to two people. It’s more than paint on canvas. It’s a piece of their story.

Now that it’s been gifted and received, I can finally share it with you all.

And my heart is full.

‘Hawthorne Ferry’

This one has my whole heart.

Painted from memories of warm Queensland light, river breezes and that beautiful little ferry house sitting proudly by the water… this piece was all about colour, movement and that feeling of arriving somewhere special.

The palm trees lean in.
The river sparkles.
The sky dances in soft blues and hints of sunset pink.

I wanted it to feel joyful. Nostalgic. A little windswept and full of possibility.

And now… it’s heading home to Queensland to a very special person. There is something incredibly meaningful about sending a painting back to the place that inspired it. It feels like a full circle moment.

As artists, we paint places.
But really, we paint feelings.

Knowing this one will hang somewhere it truly belongs makes me so happy.

Safe travels, Hawthorne Ferry.
You were a joy to create.

This is Charlie.
The goodest boy.
The biggest bundle of love.

And no… this one is not for sale.

Maggie doesn’t paint in watercolour very often (like… very rarely). But sometimes you just have to paint your heart — and in this case, her heart has four legs, big brown eyes and the happiest little grin you’ve ever seen.

Those splashy colours.
That cheeky sparkle.
That “where’s my treat?” energy.

This piece was simply painted to celebrate her boy. No big release. No shop update. Just pure love on paper.

Because sometimes art isn’t about selling.
It’s about honouring your goodest boy.

And honestly… look at that face.

Just my random ramblings as I paint…. new collection… that’s about it

A new landscape finished in the studio.

Salamanca, movement, weather, and kunanyi holding steady in the distance.
Exploring how places feel rather than how they look — layered, lived-in, and always changing.

Oil with acrylic underpainting.

Ever wonder why your painting just isn’t zinging the way it should? Sometimes it’s not the colour—it’s the tone!

One of my secret weapons is snapping a quick black-and-white pic of my work-in-progress to check the contrast and balance. No distractions from those hot pinks and luminous blues—just a raw look at the guts of the composition.

Swipe to see the difference: same painting, totally different vibe! It’s like looking at your work with X-ray vision… but make it artsy.

P.S. Yes, that is a cow waiting in line. No, I don’t know what it’s ordering.

Work in progress: ‘Foot Patrol’
This one is close to my heart. I spent some of the most important years of my life wandering around here—walking, thinking, breathing in that salty air. Every archway, every sun-drenched tile holds a memory.

As part of my ‘Out of Time, Out of Place’ series, this piece blends nostalgia with imagination. The familiar meets the surreal, and soon, an animal will make its appearance (but who will it be this time?).

Can’t wait to share where this one goes.
