We're excited to share the survey results showing overwhelming support for the CQ Motorplex! An incredible 93% of respondents in Gracemere and 98% in Rockhampton are backing the motorsport complex. This growing momentum across a broad range of stakeholders highlights the community's recognition of the project's value.

The CQ Motorplex isn't just about motorsports; it maximizes capital spend, avoids infrastructure duplication, and presents a dynamic opportunity for economic growth in our region. Rockhampton Regional Council, reflecting their full support and commitment to our region's future, initiated all site and technical assessments, conducted extensive community consultations, and prepared the comprehensive Rockhampton Motorsports Precinct Masterplan Report in November 2020.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in the positive impact this facility will bring to Central Queensland. Together, we're driving toward a brighter, more vibrant future!

CQ NEEDS THIS!!! This will be our third post using others examples as a push for driver education in Central Queensland. Our goal at CQ Motorplex is to create a complex that delivers both motorsports AND driver education. There is absolutely no arguing the point on this one!! With our over representation in fatalities and hospitalisations and the Bruce Highway Traffic & News page attesting to the number of motor vehicle collision in recent times, CQ DESPERATELY NEEDS THIS!!!! Central Queensland, it's time to prioritize road safety too! Our region, despite having only 4% of Queensland’s population, tragically accounts for 13% of the state’s road crash-related fatalities and 10% of hospitalisations. For the sake of clarity (as a few people have asked), we're sharing a 2021 post by Rockhampton Regional Council, relating to their previous involvement in a local motorsport facility and the reason Council had a change of plans.

It's important to remember that Rockhampton Regional Council had been a steadfast supporter of a motorsport complex in our region. From site and technical assessments to community engagement, the Council's commitment to cause led to the development and release of the comprehensive Rockhampton Motorsports Precinct Masterplan Report in November 2020. However, due to financial constraints and pressing issues such as Covid, they announced they were not proceeding with the purchase of land at Bouldercombe. Mayor Tony Williams emphasized at the time, that while Council was not moving forward with the purchase, their support for a motorsport precinct remained.

We appreciated Council's efforts at the time and are looking forward to building toward that level of support again. Let's keep the momentum and community support strong and let them know what an important inclusion CQ Motorplex would be to our region!

Council will today announce that it will not be going ahead with the purchase of a parcel of land at Bouldercombe earmarked as a potential motorsport precinct.

Mayor Tony Williams said Council’s conditional contract on the site required a decision to be made by the end of the month and Councillors had resolved at yesterday’s meeting not to proceed.

“This wasn’t an easy decision to make, and I want to make it clear at the outset that Council still supports a motorsport precinct, but the timing is not right to push ahead with this at the moment,” Mayor Williams said.

“Council needs to focus on more immediate and substantial infrastructure priorities to sustain and support growth in our region, including key water, sewerage and road projects.”

“Unfortunately, we are constrained by the financial impact of COVID-19 and this is a choice we have had to make – prioritising the “must do’s”.

“I know our passionate motorsport community and motoring enthusiasts will be disappointed to hear today’s news but I want to assure them that Council supports a motorsport precinct for our region and we will continue to progress this in the background.”

“Our immediate focus will be to build on the success of the inaugural Rockynats event and to really make that the best it can be,” Mayor Williams said.

Rockhampton Regional Council has written to local Bouldercombe residents and sporting clubs to notify them of the Council decision.
