Melbourne’s biggest summer exhibition is back, and it’s set to take over every level of National Gallery of Victoria.

The NGV Triennial 2026 brings together more than 80 projects from nearly 100 artists across 35 countries, including names like Jenny Holzer, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Zanele Muholi. Expect everything from large-scale installations to thought-provoking works, plus 25 world-premiere commissions.

Opening 13 December at NGV International, this free exhibition continues its reputation as one of the city’s most anticipated cultural moments.

If past editions are anything to go by, it’s not just an exhibition, it’s a full takeover of contemporary art in Melbourne.
